The thing I would be worried about is your KIDNEYS. Tylenol, or Acetaminophen, is VERY hard on your kidneys... and trust me, I work for a dialysis firm... you DON'T want to be on Dialysis!
Be good to your kidneys! Drink lots of water all the time and try to avoid Tylenol, I'd take advil instead... Ibuprophen.
Just my two cents... |

Ibuprophen is supposed to be worse for you...when I had pain from my wisdom tooth, I was on 2 every 2-4 hours, totally went beyond the max for almost 2 weeks. I went thru 124 pills (100 pill bottle at home, 24 bottle at work) and always had them on hand. As soon as pain started to come back even the slightest, I took more :| Alcohol didnt affect it too much either :D But I paid for it, I had some severe stomach pains from it. |

This is why I don't take drugs unless a doctor tells me to.
OTC is useless. |

T3's are my instant hangover cure. percocet is way more fun tho. |
I had some major dental sugary last year, and was prescribed lots of Percocets. It's always nice to get off work on short term disability for a month having my salary 100% paid, and laying in front of the TV in a drugged up happy state. The only bad thing was I could hardly talk or eat... Well maybe not quite so bad.

It's actually scary how chemically similar methylphenidate (Ritalin) is to cocaine. Both block the re-uptake of dopamine which increases synaptic availability of that neurotransmitter. Most kids don't crush up their Ritalin pills and snort them, but if someone were to do that the effects are reportedly quite similar. And this is what we are giving to our kids! It's a well known fact that Ritalin is over prescribed, especially in the United States. Yes I'm sure ADD/ADHD does exist, but you don't prescribe such a serious drug on a whim. Kids act up from time to time. Get over it! Don't shut them up with drugs for god's sake!
I used to live in New Port Beach, California when I was in grade 1. I went to kindergarten in Toronto and as such was taught to do things the Canadian way. My wonderful American grade 1 teacher thought I was slow because I did things a different way from what was the norm over there. In fact the teacher gave my parents an ultimatum: put your kid on Ritalin, or we will be forced to hold him back a grade! My parents thankfully refused, and hastened their move back to Canada. When we got back to my home and native land, they took me to a doctor to make sure I didn't have any neurological problems as my American teacher had suggested. The doctor performed a bunch of cognitive tests, with the results showing I had an above average intelligence. He too was horrified that the teacher had the power/say to demand kids get put on drugs for a problem they have no authority to diagnose.

Agreed. Most polydrug abuse is ill advised.

That depends on your individual medical conditions, sensitivity to its ingredients, and any other drugs that might be added to the equation. |

what i find funny is the irony of drug users, people who after a long night of pill-popping debate taking a tylenol for their headache the next day because it might be bad for them :haha: |
Well, as ironic as it may sound, many OTC meds can be very dangerous or fatal if taken in combination with alcohol or other chemicals. Usually we're not talking about neurological damage but rather direct physical damage, to organs like the liver or kidneys. Tylenol especially is known to cause complications when your liver is already working on overdrive.
Remember, the only real difference between OTC, prescription, and illegal drugs is the word of some know-nothing bureaucrat. Some OTCs are far more dangerous than any illicit drugs you could pick up - ever heard of Dimenhydrinate AKA Gravol, for example? |

Products like Gravol or Dramamine are, as you probably know, anti-nauseants; however, if you look at the active ingredients on other products, like Nytol, you'll find the exact same ingredients. They're basically sleeping pills - even the non-drowsy versions.
Some people apparently got the idea of eating 20 of them to trip out. From what I've read, it's not exactly like a DXM or acid trip. With those other drugs, people who are tripping KNOW that they're tripping - not the case with this. As a result they go completely bonkers, sometimes institutionalized for psychosis.
Usually they recover after a few days, but perhaps you can imagine how much damage a person can do when they're completely convinced for more than a full day that everything around them is a dream. I've heard of people jumping out of their windows, attacking people around them, etc... sorta like a really bad PCP freakout, but worse.
Of course that's just one example of many. Tons of OTC medicines are dangerous. Many OTC decongestants, for example, contain some sort of ephedrine, and taking too many of those could kill you, especially if combined with other OTC medicines like No-Doz or even painkillers. |
