Someone told me if I get these I don't need a power amp, so I figure why not it's easier to deal with then. What are some good power monitors for a bedroom (temporarily) DJ? I don't want anything too big or too expensive, but something that'll still produce good sound.

you should give the B-52 matrix 1000 a test drive @ your local dealer. The amp is built right into the sub. The sound is pretty damn good. I think it pushes like 900 watts. I have beat the hell outta 'em at some parties we thru, and they are still producing some damn good sound. They run around $800 for the whole package.

Take a look at computer speakers. You can use any set that has RCA inputs. Take a look at altec and creative labs.

I really like the "Alesis Monitor One", It's an older two-way studio monitor, they are not that expensive (look in mail order cats.)and they have great bass response (40hz and down)so you don't need a sub, they're small and they have a rubberized outer shell. I think they are rated 200w rms.

Event TR 5 is rated best in it's price range for sound quality. They beat the M-Audio BX5s. It runs $300USD new and $200USD used on ebay.

i own a b-52 matrix 1000 system and its just great

built in amps....makes evrything easyer

it also comes with a limiter...its kinda good to have a protection if you dont wanna blow up anything

and trust me ive tried to reach the limiter and i never did

really good choice for 1000 canadian bucks

That B-52 system looks interesting, you could use it at home or at smaller events. It's like a small size version of a pair of JBL Eons or Mackie 450 plus a subwoofer, which would cost 2X - 3X the B-52.

j@y: how is the sound quality in comparison to other self-powered gear like JBL/Mackie? I checked the company's website & they had a link to a good review.
