The south is bitter about losing, but the war really was about states rights |

The South never lost because of any lack of spirit in the Confederate Army. They trounced the Northern aggressors for years. They lost because of the prolonged attack against their infastructure which supplied their Army and the lack of outside support for the war effort. Had Britain or France or any other major power backed the South, they would have succeeded in creating a Southern Union. Territory the world over has been split into sovereign nations throughout history whatever the cause or reason.

| Firstly, the Emmancipation Proclomation only freed Southern Slaves. That part is lots of times left out of schools unfortunately. The reason for this was the North wanted more soldiers and thought that by *freeing* the slaves in the South would make them want to come fight for the North. But back track a little bit and realize that it was more of the North's fault the South seceded. Congress kept passing restrictions that were geared toward the South and it kept affecting thier livelyhoods. Now, I'm in no way supporting the South and the slavery but I figured the record should be set straight here before it got out of hand. |
