Its starting up here now too! supposed to get pretty intense by tonight
im stoked actually... if its not gonna be warm, then atleast let there be pretty snow on the ground (well, i guess the snow isnt so much a bother in a town like c'wood like it is for yall up there in the Tdot |

AFTERNOON AND INTENSIFY TONIGHT. SNOW IN TORONTO AREA IS LIKELY TO
BEGIN THIS EVENING AND MOVE FURTHER EASTWARD TONIGHT.
MOST OF THE SNOW ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED OVER SOUTHWESTERN ONTARIO
TONIGHT WITH 10 TO 15 CENTIMETRES BY TUESDAY MORNING. SNOW OVER THE
REMAINING AREAS WILL BE LIGHT MOST OF THE TIME. HOWEVER IT WILL LAST
FOR 24 HOURS OR MORE RESULTING IN TOTAL SNOW AMOUNT 10 TO 15
CENTIMETRES BY TUESDAY EVENING.
BRISK NORTHWESTERLY WINDS WILL ALSO DEVELOP TUESDAY EVENING AS THE
DEEPENING LOW MOVES TO NEW ENGLAND CAUSING DRIFTING AND BLOWING SNOW.
STRONG WINDS MAY BECOME MORE GENERAL ON WEDNESDAY IN THE WAKE OF THE
STORM CENTRE CAUSING BLOWING SNOW..WITH SNOWSQUALLS OFF OF LAKE HURON
INTO THE TRADITIONAL SNOWBELT REGIONS ALSO EXPECTED.
TRAVELLERS SHOULD EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION. DRIVING CONDITIONS ARE
EXPECTED TO DETERIORATE QUICKLY TONIGHT AND REMAIN HAZARDOUS THROUGH
TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY DUE TO LOW VISIBILITY AT TIMES IN HEAVY SNOW
AND LOCAL BLOWING SNOW.
ENVIRONMENT CANADA WILL MONITOR THE SITUATION AND ISSUE FURTHER
MESSAGES.
PLEASE REFER TO THE LATEST PUBLIC FORECASTS FOR FURTHER DETAILS.

I could not agree with you more! Drivers who:
1. brake every second for no reason on a freeway
2. drive below the speed limit on the passing lane; drive exactly at the speed limit on the passing lane with no car ahead of them in that lane
need to get their license revoked instantly, and then be executed. :whip: :whip: (yeah, I know I have a road rage problem) |

If you're an experienced driver, I'm sure you know it takes less than 10cm (never mind the snow already on the ground) and moderate winds to create some pretty poor driving conditions. Compound that with night driving, especially along stretches of highway without lighting and you've got a situation that calls for a lot of caution.
The neighbour of my parents drives buses for Laidlaw and he explained to me that they rely heavily on these reports, among others, to gauge driving times and any necessary route changes (whether to take the ETR, for example).

Toronto (southwestern Ontario) drivers + snow == lower threshold for advisories, watches, and warnings. Up north, where there's less congested highways and more people who have a clue, higher threshold for the tiered condition bulletins. |

Snow around here is a joke.
Try living just 20cm outside Roger's Pass in B.C. (Revelstoke) where they get the most average snow fall in Canada.
THEN we'll talk...;)
I have to agree with Jayx1 one though...it's not the snow that's the actual problem, it's the peoples' reaction to it that causes the problems... :mad: |
