mp3 distortion

Hello friends,
I made a new track, mastered it and converted it to mp3 (192 Kbps stereo, 44.1 Khz, cool edit). When I play it with Windows Media Player and other audioplayers it works fine - BUT:
When I play the mp3 with Winamp it distorts!!! The .wav doesn't tho.
I already tried higher quality (up to 320 Kbps) but that didn't help. I normalized the original .wav file to -o.4 dB to avoid clipping. Why does it distort?
Do you know a solution? It would be great if someone could help me!
Thanx,

Ok, no answers necessary anymore, I solved the prob. It simply was the winamp equalizer that caused the distortion  |

Very funny! So tell me which Limiter-values you prefer to avoid clipping when an additional eq is added. |

or make sure your winamp eq is turned off and your audio settings are correct as winamp can sometimes increase your windows audio to max by setting winamp to max. |
