I use Reason 2.5 for all of my percussion and other . Then I bring it into Sonar 3 where I use vsts (Vanguard, zt3a, Albino. Crv, Minnimoog) My sound card is an M Audio something... and I use a Radium controller keyboard. I think thats it. For mastering I use Wavs. I also have some fun loop based programs like Sony Sound Forge and Recycle.

A friend of mine gave me Logic 5 for PC and I think Im gonna start messing around with that in a little bit...

The only thing i use my studio pc for is editing samples, and running MESA 2.2 (linked via scsi to one of my akais- my s3000xl). I also use it to rip direct from cd, on the ocassions i am not sampling from vinyl. I have vst and logic platinum, but i havent used them in years.
Everything midi wise and audio (on samplers) is run and synced from my ataris (plural). Software- cubase and Notator SL
Dont like or use virtual studio shizzle personally, although i have encountered loads of it in my career.I try and avoid it where possible.
tripudio
I use Fl Studio and a wack load of vst's, M-Audio keyboard also adobe audition.

In my old age (34 years old), I prefer to use the least amount equipment as possible. I have lots of keyboards, outboard gear, guitars, amps, PC applications, VST instruments, etc.; but at the moment, the following is all I use to write electronic dance music:

1) Motif ES6 w/ three PLG150-ANs, mLAN16e expansion board and 1.024 GB RAM
2) Lots of sample CDs
3) Compaq PC
4) Acid Pro 5 or Cubase SL
5) Sound Forge 7 w/ T-RackS 24 VST

I do not have the patience to deal with a lot of equipment and applications anymore. I understand how to use the Motif ES inside and out. It works very well for me, and I tend to be more productive writing songs within the limitations of a workstation.

My PC is only used to add vocals and perform the final mix in Acid Pro 5 or Cubase SL, and master the final mix in Sound Forge 7. Otherwise, everything else is done in the Motif ES.
