The scene was fine, until clubs started going 21+ like it was the end of the world. As far as I know, Element is the biggest venue, but don't ask me about successful nights.
I'm extremely interested in seeing Zabiela come up here. Sometime after April, at an 18+ deal. Unfortunately, something tells me it'll be 21+. :( |

Whats the deal with 21+ and 18+
Can liquor be served at both ?
What are the majority of the nights like ?
Ive heard of a friday night @ Element that seems to be doing good |

Yeah, liquor can be served at both 18+ and 21+, though if it's 18+, you still have to be 21+ w/ID to get it.
Those Element Fridays look to be doing nice. Digweed has one coming up in March. |

It seems the only decent talent (A list DJ's) coming through now will be playing at Element. Too bad, because the venue leaves much to be desired. It is small, there is little to no lighting, and they try to compensate for ty sound by making the bass go boom. Boom may feel good, but it sounds like . The drink prices are on par with LA ($$$), and oh, did I mention it was SMALL? My living room is bigger than the main dance floor.
The venue where Tiesto and Infected Mushroom played was infinitely better (The Premier) - and, it catered to the 18+ crowd, which didn't bother me at all. |

| It was my understanding that USC was no longer going to do USC massives like USC8 anymore. Most massives have been held at the Seahawk's Stadium, not sure if they lost the connections with the Exhibition center or not. Mark Naficy is from what I understand now involved with The Premier. Most of the lighting and sound system is marked Naf Studios that is installed at Premier. Tiesto hasn't played Element, I dont think they are going to go to a 18+ format. They are catering to a more "upscale" club-going crowd. Pushing drinks is what is making them money right now. Whats the deal with the hip-hop room at Element? The market down here is totally saturated with DnB and Hip-hop/rap/top 40 crap-ola. I tend to go to BC anymore. The scene is more mature for being 19+ than the 21+ Seattle crowd IMO. |

| Yea... I am getting a little worried watching the damn Seattle edm scene deteriorate into dnb/hip-pop . The element is the WORST thing to hit the seattle scene. So lame. And they city has been trying to shut down all ages events more and more. I'm getting pissed. |

Anyways, I hope USC, or some of the people involved in USC stick around and can lend their time to other promotion groups and bring in some more big names. |
I'm more than willing to bet that sometime by the end of the year there will be some sort of off-shoot of USC, either with a lot of USC folk moving to something like Lovetribe for example, or just starting their own deal.

Haha, let me know when that happens, and I'll definitely contribute. :p |

| As far as spin offs and USC's residents like Eva and Flave they all have regular club nights at Element now. Alot of USC's EDM events at The Premier are opened by Eva or even Austin Payne. I also understand that Darude is supposed to be a resident at Element starting March. I don't really believe the scene is dying, but I think a lot has to be done to convince club owners. they currently see tons of drinks being sold and clubs packed with a format of HipHop and Rap. Until they start seeing good numbers from Trance/Techno nights they aren't gonna risk losing the money. But, then again, you can go to any generic club in Pioneer square or Belltown and see the same crap just a different club. I think USC is getting away from the massives because of venue issues and other problems. Most of the massives featured great DJs but they were packed on line ups in a cheesy way. You might get 5 DJs playing one room in a night. It all comes down to 1.5-2hr sets. Its really hard to get into a groove and get a set built up and closed down in 2hrs. I also imagine that cost a great deal to book that much talent for one event. Licensure from the city may be a pain too. IMO Vancouver is a way more organized and professional city to party in. things just run waaay smoother when I go up there. I havent been that impressed with USC since USC6. Things seemed to go down hill after that. Especially the Dec 18th Tiesto show at Premier. I had VIPs and was promised Tshirts and promo stuff as well as a private VIP bar. The show was way oversold and packed, plus the private bar wasn't private and there were no promos or shirts. Just my opinion. |
