I know this may be a stupid question, and its not a thread to start any sort of debate.
I'm currently using FL Studio, what I am wondering is if I will get better sound quality if I start using cubase, will my vst's sound better or is it all in sound card??
anyone who's has used fl studio and cubase, have an unbiased opinion? |

i own both, and have used both from time to time, FL STUDIO mainly
but i have recently purchased sonar 4 producer edition which is an excellent kit.
and works perfect with the virus powercore, if only fl studio could do the same. |

let's say you won't be able to make a good mixing on cubase if you arent't able to make a good mixing on Fl ;) |

yep. a soundcard will not improve sound quality to any really noticeable degree - soundcards are just interfaces which allow you to connect external sound sources to your PC.
and yes. if you cannot get a satisfactory mix in fl studio, you sure as hell wont get one in cubase.
there is no holy grail application that suddenly makes your tunes good. if there was, we would all be using it.
the only problems i have with fl studio is via hardware since my virus b just doesnt like it and glitches all the time. heck, my soundcard doesnt like floops either and insists on crashing my ASIO drivers when the cpu load goes over 80%. |

| Thanks guys for your input, I realize the tools dont make the producer. I started with FL Studio, was just wondering if there was any benefit to me in switching over to Cubase, I know alot of people use it, there must be a reason? But in the end if you can achieve the same results using either, I guess you have anwsered my question :) |

| having never used cubase i cannot say. however, i do have consistant MIDI sync issues with fl studio and my virus b. my ASIO drivers on my m-audio delta 1010 also find floops disagreable at high cpu loads - it usually locks up hard when i start to get around 80% load. |

| I used to use FL and I personally like Cubase better. It seems that it doesn't eat up as much cpu and it has better quality sounds. From my understanding hardware works better with Cubase than it does with FL. What put me off of fl I think was the interface. It had kind of a cheap feel to it, I dunno thats just what I thought. But I'd reccomend getting good with fruity first then playing with a m8's copy of cubase or something and seeing if you like it any better. -- Ryan |

| ok I have my m8's copy of cubase, just to play with. I'm having troubles loading vst and where is the pianoroll??. One thing I liked about FL, its so easy to setup, cuasbe is probably the same, but looking at something new, lost lol |

i think i'm in the same boat as u tripudio.
I'm looking to venture to new software, and after looking at the possibilities of Reason, Logic and cubase. I think its going to have to be cubase. Although i will be using FL Studio along side it most likely.
Is it fair to say cubase has the least steepest learning curve out of the three? (sorry to hi-jack your thread, but i'm sure it instrests you as much as me?) |
