Just curious what people's thoughts are on this guy - aka Paul Gaarn, Eve.

I'm listening to the few items I have of his and find his sound quite good and his sound seems to cover a lot of genres. I have never seen an appreciation thread for him, so I thought I would make one.

Admittedly I feel few of his stuff has been quite bland, but some of the productions I have heard are great. Some of his hard trance stuff I have a tendency to slow down to -4%/-6% and the sound then is much like the trance that was around in the late 90's.

Also, there is a lot of Gargano stuff that I have not heard, so I would like to see what other people like to get some suggestions for myself.

I am listening to these atm - the only vinyl I own by him:

EVE 43: Vintage (Nice housier tune from him) / Perpetual Motion (Harder track which I am not fond of)
EVE 15: You Make Me Feel / Headlines (2 Hard trancers - best slowed down)
EVE 14: Illogical Trance/Birds & Whales/My Nighmare (3 Superb trancers, easily the best vinyl I have heard from him)
EVE 12: Everyone's Future (More Epic like the NEO label of 99) / The Darkness (More techno, very fast still too fast at -6% hehe)

I also remember the song he produced that was popular in 99, and featured in some of Oakie's Essential Mix. Eve - Riser, by far the best production I have heard from him.

I think Arcana is quite cool too, but nowhere near Riser. :)

yeah i like his productions for the most part. you're right though when you say sometimes his stuff can be a little bland...but it's usually always got a great beat...

Pretty underrated producer, despite getting a lot of his productions rotated from respected DJs. Favs:

Arcana/Osho
My Noise
Paul Gaarn - Waterfall
Eve - Riser
remix of Riva - Stringer
aloep
He's done some pretty decent stuff, most of what I know is during the mid 90's:

Pablo Gargano - Bolero Extacid
Pablo Gargano - Holding You Tight
Pablo Gargano - The Unexplained
Camwin
The only tune i've ever heard of his was the Wintergalactic Mix of "Absolution" and i thought it was pretty nice.
AlphaStarred
yep, i also like the fact that he varied his style in various productions/remixes...

Yup, that's one underrated producer/DJ allright. Love most of his stuff. Followed the EVE and Telica releases religiously in the mid to late 90's. Even did a mix with consisting of the 10 first Telica releases. I was pretty crap at mixing back then though so it's hidden deep in my vault now lol :p
Technaut
where has he been hiding since arcano/osho?

Yeh, that would be interesting to hear. You should try it again if you still have the vinyl... for old times sake! Heheh.

I am fond of the few K90 work I heard on telica.

Oh I was looking for Vintage Millenium - Propaganda. Would this be rare? Seen it a few places but no less than £30.

perhaps the first *true* trance artist i actually ever got into...

if only cause i bought the largest, cheapest compilations in London and Surrey with 'trance' in the title.

they were ING boring, but there was the hint of something there. maybe it explains why when i got some Carl Cox mixes on the same trip my fav song was The Future (Hybrid rmx).

deffo a pioneer, as i listen to like Ace of Base that was produced during the same time period (early 90s) and it sounds horribly dated, whereas Pablo was simple and somewhat boring, but not necessarily dated|

Didn't know Pablo Gargano was Eve. Riser is a tune.

Have some stuff of him that he released on Metropolitan records in Italy before he headed for the UK and set up the EVE-label. Always thought his talent was evident even these early releases, although his productionskills increased quite a lot under the EVE era.
