Yeah, you're right. But Sasha is a pro, he wouldn't do that. I am alittle worried about the whole live aspect going away though, when amateur DJs get their hands on stuff like this, and it starts getting widely accepted.
Anyway, I think I'd prefer a techno/house jock to use turntables (+ EFX, drummachine and whatnot if he wishes). Decks just give me that old skool feeling. :p |

ive probably posted peices of this interview in all the ableton/sasha threads that have been posten in the MD. Still, you can hear what hes up to from sasha himself.

The Ableton is not really a new way of Deejaying, it's more like a new different option of a way of Deejaying and live remixing, kind of a 'mashup' between the Dj and the live artist. But in the end what comes out of the speakers is still a Dj set. There's so many things that I've always wanted to do with my Dj sets, but the technology was limited. With the Ableton Live there are a million things that I'm now able to do, like last week when I was playing at Fabric (12/11/04)..... at one point I was playing six tracks simultaneously. |

and edit: i think this is more live than decks. Im mean hes creating music infront of you instead of just passing it over from one deck ot another. I love to see Djs sping but this is good too, its innovating, and im dying to see how crazy sets can get with this.:eyespop: |

If anyone were to prerecord their sets, they will eventually be caught, and that particular person will be flogged to death.

And it may not look cooler, but it SOUNDS cooler, which is better IMO. If it's all about how it looks, then you have a very materialistic view of electronic dance music ;) |

$0. I read somewhere that the people who make Ableton made the controller specifically for him. I don't know if that's true but it wouldn't surprise me considering how much Sasha has hyped Ableton. |

Ableton definitely has it's pros, but like most have already said, it's too expensive for any up-and-coming DJ, and for most newcomers it would be way too hard for them to get the samples for each track.
I have no problem if a DJ uses Ableton; if their set kicks ass, great. Having said that, I much rather prefer to watch a DJ mess with vinyls and CDs, and a mixer, as well as myself spin on vinyl and CD. |

Who cares how it looks!? He can play six tracks at the same time and blend them together in ways to make you go nuts...and this is just the beggining... |
