What is the distance between Gatwick Airport and London Luton Airport, and are there any buses or trains connecting these 2 airports?

Thanks in advance
dj_mdma
gatwick is 40 mins drive south of london

Luton is almost an hour drive north of london. and then of course you have to get through london itself ;)

Anyway, there is a train called the gatwick express which will take you into london, and i'm pretty sure that there is a train that takes you to luton from cannon st or liverpool st, not entierly sure.

try www.tfl.gov.uk and use the journey planner

There is a train service connecting these two airports, called Thameslink. It'll take you directly from one of the two Gatwick terminals (the south one, I think) and stops at Luton Airport where you then take a free bus service (5 minutes) to the aiport terminal. It's very straightforward normally (but see below) and is pretty much door-to-door.

The only problem with this service is that they're doing major engineering work on the line at the moment. This means you have to leave the train at London King's Cross and then walk 10 mins to London St Pancras, where you rejoin the service which'll then take you to Luton Airport. Bit of a pain in the arse, especially if you have heavy luggage, but it's fairly typical of the train services in the UK.

Both links provided above should help: www.tfl.gov.uk is pretty useful. PM me if you want more info. :)

The reason why I'm asking is beacause me and a fellow TA(infinity_high) are planning a trip to Europe and the first place on our minds is London. Hopefully we'll get to see Tyrant@Fabric. We got some cheap tickets from Toronto to England but we have to be in Warsaw at the end of the weekend.

The only airport connecting London and Warsaw is Luton. We don't mind walking ~10 minutes and then taking a direct train to catch a flight to Warsaw. We know it's gonna be a pain in the ass, but we're trying to save some money here :p

BTW if your parents are leaving for the summer and you have two extra beds, hit us up :D We're good people, and there's only two of us ;) Hostels are our only optiom at the moment.

Also, if u have a car and some spare time, we're willing to pay you for a ride ;)

Well... I have my own house but don't really have any extra room, I'm afraid. As for a car and a lift, while I could potentially provide both, it's definitely quicker and (probably) easier for you to get the train. It's quite a long drive and the train takes a much more direct route.

bahaha!! :stongue:

Yea...and we can pay you back in weed!!!! :D

speaking of which: how is the weed in England? Easy to get? Easy to get jailed for it? Expensive?

This goes for some uhhhhh..."vitamins" too.
svens_bath
if you get caught with weed here then as long as its a small amount you should be just given a police acuation at most, they may even just take it off you. however i dont know what the deal would be for tourists+ this policy is supposed to be uniform, but it can vary in different areas. for example in strathclyde im pretty sure that the police have stated that they will continue to arrest people caught with weed. to be honest, you should be ok though. your from Canada, so you might be alittle disappointed with the quality of weed on these shores...you can get some good , but not the brain damage stuff yout probably used to, specially if you dont know anybody here. might be an idea to bring some with you, oh yeah and genrally its £20 an 8th of skunk.

as for vitamins, as you put it, its pretty likely youll get offferd loads, in clubs so i wouldnt wory about getting a hold of any, and generally even in clubs theyre usually good enough.

Thats good to hear, cause here in Toronto I'd be really hesitant to get any off of someone I don't know...and even now, lately it's all been to be honest.

As for the weed: ours isn't reall "brain-damaging" like you put it,but it's really smooth...everything from the taste to the high. But whatever, as long as the weed gets us high then it's all good, right? ;)

Also, what are some good HOUSE clubs to check out? Fabric is on the top of our list (*crosses fingers for Tyrant@Fabric resident night*), but we're also hoping for a Bedrock night somewhere too. Any nights that we should look into that you locals could recommend?

Thanks :)
svens_bath
Bedrock isnt really on at the moment. its in a bit of a hiatus as to if and when its going to return, unfortunately:(

however, make sure you get down to fabric at some point. i cant recommend it enough! i dont know when your coming over but i dont think there are any tryant nights coming up soon, and you just missed one last week. craig richards, who im sure you know is one half of tyrant, is weekly resident, if thats any consolation, so youll defintely be able to catch him when your over.sasha is the 21st of may, along with dj dan in another room.
