Cheapest I've seen it is for $150 US + shipping + import tax/duty - so the price seems right (assuming it is $175 CAD + tax/shipping).
For the price I don't see anything wrong with it. However note that it is discontinued - replacement parts might be hard to find if it should ever require them.
It is 5 channels - of which I could never see anybody using all 5 - but sure, why not? I guess the main question is the sound quality - of which I do not know a thing specific to this mixer.
The price is right however.
I'd check out the price of the DJX700 before buying the DX1000. If not substantially more - it might work better for you. The DJX700 is like a pseudo-DJM600. Obviously at 1/5th the cost it's not quite the same, but as a starter it's probably a pretty good deal (again I know nothing of the sound quality of the DJX700). The DJX700 is only $180 US (+ import/shipping costs). I've seen DJX700 for $300 CAD - importing might be cheaper. |

Same here, they manufacture more rip offs than any other I've known.
Save a little more and buy quality. |

+1
I wouldn't do it. it will end up being more problems than it's worth.
The only good thing I can say about Behringer's is they have very deep bass. Othen than that, the mixes are paperweights. |
