so i'm sittin around listening to Grand National - Talk Amongst Yourselves on my Involver special edition vinyl when in busts one of my friends. he says, "oh , I know that one.... uh... talk amongst yourselves right? that's my favorite song off involver" this friend of mine does not listen to electronic music, i just happened to throw involver on his ipod a few weeks ago cuz i figured he might like it. what a breakthrough. slowly but surely i'll convert him. anyone else with similar experiences?

My girlfriend was an Hip-hop fanatic, but I gived to her Fictivision vs Phynn - Escape just too listen on it,and she was "in love with that song, now she is asking me all the time about new similar tracks.I am also trying to convert my "metal" friends to listen electronic music...they hate me...lol

I have got an experience like that too!

Friends of mine hated trance and hardtrance. They were going like to all r&b parties here in Holland. Then they went on vacation and I gave them a cd with a lot of great songs and eventually the played it the whole vacation and now they love it too :D

So just give a cd to ur friends and let them listen to it a few times. Then the will like it eventually ;)

Hardest people to convert, well besides emo-kids, but they are brain dead anways, is punk rockers, like real ones.

They refuse to listen to it, you would think that for people that play the most mind numbling simple music like 3 chord punk with generic drums and bass and ty vocals you cant even understand, would have a little bit of acceptance for other music.

Then again, probably not. :p

Who cares tho... the less the better IMO, to many stupid people liking the music will make it more stupid.

Look at the ASOT threads in MD.

hehehe

Vision - Close Minded

"Yknow, everybody's always sayin
you're really closed minded
you only listen to one type of music
you only go to one type of show.
and i say
well, you know what?
this is the type of music that we grew up on
this is the type of music that we play
punk rock is our way of life
its how we choose to live
and everybody else's opinion is worth nothing.
dont worry about what i listen to
worry about your own life
because im not gonna change for you or anyone
i cant help it if you dont like it
and its up to me if i dont want to listen to anything else
its whats in our blood
it flows through our veins
so save your breath
cuz we're here to say"

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm man i miss high school.

and the stuff thats around now is not punk. punk's (new) golden age was the punk-o-rama five era, 1999-2000, oddly the same time as trances. if you want to understand why people like it, pick up POR5. great tunes. if not, you're just as bad :)

and man, electronic music.. simple beats, vocals you cant understand... whoa, i dont beleive.

As much as I love it, I find people get into it real keen like, then get bored after a year or 2, which really sucks

It's such a hassle having a new group of friends every few years as your old ones don't wanna go clubbing with you anymore :(

lol i listened to rock/metal/alternative at first, now i've totally expanded to house music, which I liked but wasn't very into it. The brakethrough was getting my internet connection and being able to dl dj sets. A BIG influence to start listening to EDM was also sasha and airdrawndagger, expander, GU 13 etc

when i started high school (age cca. 14 here in europe), my now best friend had ling hair, wore just black with all the freaky they tend to wear, and listened only to metal, and hated the '' i was listening to. You should see him now, he often surprises me by knowing more about trance than i do... LOL
