Hasn't happened yet....
stay tuned, I am heading over around 10:30 pm, taking my friend for her birthday present. I tried to offer her Zabiela, but she wanted Oakie.
The next 4 days will either kill me or make me stronger...Oakie today, Felix da Housecat on Friday, Nu-NRG on Saturday. |

Well it is Thursday. Just got back. Here's my 2 minute review:
Picture your car, with 6 sweaty guys who've just run 5 miles. The windows are rolled up. Your actual capacity is a 2 seater. Imagine being in that car for 4 hours. The temperature rises over time, as does the general "funk-meter".
Oakie was good, not great, I've heard him do better. The opener spun alot of dull (in my opinion) house.
I was mainly pleased to see so many people out--if only they would go to other shows, too, & come out & support more!
Plus it was nice to be out dancing.
Negatives: Way overcrowded. No separate line for pre-sale tickets. A/C not set up for that many people, & no re-entry meant general funky air. Too much smoke machine.
Pluses: Crowd was into it. Never had to wait too long for a drink. Felt vaguely smug that the guys had to wait in line for the bathroom, though the guys were starting to invade the ladies room. Best sound sysem in Austin, though I had a good time teasing Andy the sound guy about his "mathematical equations of maximal acoustical sine waves".
I think I am spoiled by the usual Texas turnout at electronica--this show reminded me of why I didn't go to so many shows when I lived in CA--it's not much fun to be smashed into other people.
More stuff tomorrow, like Track IDS. Saw Racing4hoes, his girlfriend & his 14(?) year old nephew. |

| pretty decent show. I just wish oakey spun for longer. damn cops told eternal to close.:whip: i think he only spun for like an hour and a half. but oakey still put on a good show. :D |

hey whats up/ that was my best friend (Skye) and my nephew whos 19. it was indeed hot as phuk and I think i was smelling myself by the time Oakey was on. And he only spun for 2 hrs and 45 mins till the damn cops shut the place down. Wasnt feeling the place, i like Sky much much much better. Heard a lot of new e that Oakey spun. First time I couldnt ID most of his set. Playing a lot of new choons. Caught a few ID's

Liquid Todd which opened for Oakey spun some house and prog

nevertheless, got the usual autographs from the pair. got to sweat my arse off dancin the night away. but wanted to hear Southern Sun :( Oh well. nice seeing you tmft and I think I ran into HotboyAustin.

Wow, way for me to stick my foot in mouth. Sorry Ryan. Your nephew looks young...everyone looks young compared to an old curmudgeon like myself.
Oakie opened with "Way Out West--Killa". (best track all night...nothing else was as good).
He didn't go on til 1 AM--so he only played for 1 hour 45 minutes...& the place was SOOO crowded. There was this really drunk guy at the front clutching 2 beer bottles who always seemed to be jostling the wrong way.
The place was starting to clear out a little around 2:30--I was hoping he'd play til 3:30. Anyone know why it got shut down? I've been to shows at Eternal, Element & Sky that went til 4 AM. Heck, at Extreme Glaude was still going when I left at 4:40 AM.
I was hoping to hear "Mr Brightsides--Thin White Duke Remix".
I'd give the show a "C". Venue needs to get better AC for that many people. & Oakie's track selections were so-so---I didn't have any "ohmygod" moments. |

Wouldnot say " Better " sound..but in like the close quarters that club was set up to be..the bass was bumpin. Did you guys hear a few times how he was blowing the out of the far left speaker!..LoL...But Sky is a better place. NOW..id be nice if they took all of the next events to the new club "Vicci" That!..has Great sound..and ofcourse a better setting. Racin4Hoes: yeah u did run into me, more like me into you....didnt see your friend sky tho..:( ..oh well, saw alot of other friends there wich i did not think they would be attending( including a few girls i lost contact with..hehe ) But non the less it was an Ok show. Lets not forget that he played [ Igor - Boomerang ] again,that made everyone wild..PPK - Resurection was "Ok" aswell. I wanted him to play [Blank & Jones - Perfect Silence ]..but he said no. NU NRG is going to be phat..hope to see all of you guys there, Cant miss that show.:D

one more thing..the guy before Oky..played this one awsome song..cant remember exactly..:crazy: ..but if anyone has his full track list of what he played..id be much aprech. ( was one of his last songs ) |
