Nice list. I think Uwe Schmidt (aka Atom Heart, Seņor Coconut, Lassigue Bendthaus, Lisa Carbon Trio) should be on it. A true genius.

Tiesto and MIKE are, relatively speaking, new producers. They didn't really get their career rolling until the 99 boom. There's a whole universe of producers who put in the groudwork for trance well before that, from 92-98. A lot can can happen in seven years. Oliver Lieb, Caspar Pound, Hardfloor, Paul van Dyk, Simon Barry (Art of Trance, Union Jack), Way Out West, Nick Muir & Digweed (Bedrock), Sasha, Sunday Club, BT, etc.

Frankly, I think Oliver Lieb has been the single most influential trance producer since day one.

Don't get me wrong, the second generation of trance producers have done quite a lot too. But they're standing on the shoulders of giants.

How could I forget this man. If anyone deserves to be called genius he would without a doubt be at the forefront of the group of contenders.
Geoff
Nick Warren

Ulrich Schnauss

DJ Kernkraft400
by the way, i think PvD has done a lot of pioneer work... just think of his collaborations with cosmic baby, his remix for love stimulation, the visions of shiva, 45 RPM (incl. the original for an angel), his collaborations with BT... it was not that spectactular at all, but he really did some great work.

I think he and cosmic baby contributed a lot to the "trance" sound of the 90s... PvD is much more a pioneer than tiesto or MIKE
