Interview with special guest dj Dyloot
1. How long you been djing, and did you started with trance music or
another ype of electronic music?
-I began djing techno music in '95 and by '99 I was full into trance.
2001 is when I started getting a bit deeper.
2. You throw some of the best and finest partys in califorina specially
in the trance scene Skills, when was Skills founded?
-Skills was founded in 1997 by myself and Tom Slik. We were on our way to
visit our family in Mission Viejo/Orange Co and we came up with the idea
to throw a rave called SKILLS.
Slik-e-Loot Kids jugglle their SKILLS
It was a 2x4 themed event.
The flyer was drawn by hand by Bicolas and printed up at Kinkos.
Our first event drew over 1200 ravers, which was the biggest all trance
rave around. The first 4 years of doing events we sold every one out
execpt for one.
3 Who's your favorite producer in the trance scene, and why is he your
favorite from other trance producers?
-I would have to say Robertt Nickson is my favorite producer. When he
remixes a track it's always better than the original. His sound is deep
and beautiful, which is what I try to get across on every dj set. I know
that every production by Robert will be sound good and deliver on the
dance floor.
4. How did you and trance producer Steve Baltes became partners and create
Deep Voices?
-Steve and I met in 2001 when I visited Germany, which is where he lives,
to work on a couple of tracks that Mystre & I had done. My first trip
was for two weeks and I loved every second of it. It was my first time in
such a pro studio so I was lucky in that aspect.
Since then we've done over 20 records together, some of which were in
collaberation.
Deep Voices first release was called LILLY. We also have done a few
remixes under that guise as well.
Before, most of my music was released under DYLOOT and Steve's under STEVE
BALTES, but all our energy is focusing on the project name DEEP VOICES,
and over the past year we've been working on our debut album called
INCOMING TRANSMISSION.
5. Can you tell me more about your upcoming release
"INCOMING TRANSMISSION"?
INCOMING TRANSMISSION is a collaberation between myself and Steve Baltes
under the guise DEEP VOICES.
We have 12 original productions, 7 of which are new, and the other 5 are
new remixes of past DEEP VOICES tracks we did.
The album is set to be released on our label called MOON FLOWER RECORDINGS
in May of '05.
I feel this is our best work we've ever done, both together and solo. Two
of the tracks have vocals on them, LILLY 2005 remix & ANGEL EYES. Until
now, we haven't added a vocal to any track we've done together.
Also, this time we're not going to release all the records ourselves. By
summer some of our new productions will be released on other labels around
the world.
6. Skills 2005 calender events looks awesome, can you tell us more about
events and future events?
SKILLS 2005 events are focusing on bringing out new fresh producers of the
"now".
We had The Thrillseekers in January.
We just had GTR, Smith & Pledger in February.
Kyau-vs-Albert & Steve Baltes in March.
Sonorous & Robert Nickson in April.
Mike Koglin, Darren Tate, The Thrillseekers & Marco V in May.
Nu NRG in June
Scott Project in July
Any many others to follow.
We also started doing a monthly at 1015 Folsom. On top of that we have a
string of small SCI-FI events this year as well our our big ETD one's.
