Rollerskates vs. skateboard (pg. 3)

You're not gonna get anything worth your while for less than $200. There is a RollerBlade TRS model for about $150, but I wouldn't reccomend them at all. They're not bad, but just overall mediocre. Plus they're odd fitting to a lot of people. You'd also need to buy some anti-rockers for about $20 (but the upside is you'd have an extra set of wheels left over, I suppose).
If you don't want to spend a whole lot, I reccomend these:
Salomon Campbells... $230 at Skatepile. Salomons are probably the best fitting/most comfortable skates around besides Remedyz (and possibly xsjado, but I've never ridden them so I wouldnt know). They're pretty rugged too, and these have anti's already on them. They're ready to go right out of the box. Only real downsides, they don't have a whole lot of flex, and they don't look as cool as a lot of other skates - not that it matters that much, but hey, we can't help ourselves :D
Anyways, my personal preference would be some Remz:
Those are the latest ones, the 2005 Haffeys. Those are $299, but are just about the best you could get. If you look around, you might be able to find some of the 04 Haffeys or 03ones for about $50 less... they're all the exact same pretty much, just different colors and some different outer leather. Get them nice and snug... mine were so tight that my foot fell asleep for the first week I had them, but they will break in and form around your foot perfect. I love em. |

You mean like those rollerskates with two wheels on the front and two wheels on the back?
I've got a pair (my father bought one when I was a child), but they're too small for my feet now that I grew up :D |

i'd have to disagree. a friend had solomons before he bought his TRS and one day when we went skating my roces :wtf: were broken so i used them. another friend also had solomon that i used a few times and through experience, i can say i hate their skates. they werent smooth at all. the ride was rough as and the boot literally hurt my feet. i cant recommend solomon at all..
nrjizer.. have you ever tried deshi's? i was wondering because im thinkin about tryin some. that or remz since my USD's are getting beat up and they're a little small now too.
another brand i would avoid Lira is Razors. They're solid skates for a little while but comming again from experience, they seem to just start to fall apart. soul plates crack real easy, the frames break away after you do too many farfs or royales. they just seem to fall apart in a few months of tough usage while other skates seem to hold up atleast a year or two.
lastly i'd avoid K2. they cant make snowboards either. K2 seems to put out crappy product after crappy product. they slide nice on the grind plate but the soul plates stick and the wheels are slippery as . that an they dont fit your foot too well.
I've owned a pair of Roces as well and i have no complaints, except they were ugly. the Roces Khutis.. red and black.. they're like 5 years old. I liked them, but i have to say that i prefer USD.
I've had a lot of good experiences with USD and i'd recommend looking into a pair of USDs or some Remz definately.
yeah... :)
anymore questions and i know both me and nrjizer can answer them for you |

don't get inline skates. that's just the easy way out. |
So you're going to sit here and tell me with a straight face that skateboarding is better simply because it is more difficult and takes longer to learn? Cute. By that same analogy, all these EDM producers you enjoy are inferior artists, since it's a lot more difficult to learn an acoustic instrument than it is to grab a copy of Fruityloops or Reason.
Not to mention that your analogy is completely bogus anyways, since anything is as only difficult as you make it.
Seriously, what ever happened to just doing what was fun, and what you enjoyed doing? Seriously, idiots like arek are the reason that the skateboarding scene is inflated with dumbass kids who just roll around and try to half ass an ollie for 3 years without actually doing anything or putting any effort into it, spending half their time just sitting around by the skatepark talking. They think that what they're doing is so exclusively unique and challenging, they just buy a deck and a few articles of clothing with a logo on it, sit back, and enjoy social acceptance. It's nothing more than an image to them. No hate on the real borders who don't buy into the bull (because they're some crazy ******s).
So yeah, it might be easier to take up rolling than it is to take up boarding... so what? Like I said, whatever you do is as difficult as you make it. I haven't seen any skateboarders do 720s into a grind, or grind a 650 foot rail end to end, or launch out of a concrete drainage canal over some 8 foot wall.
Those of us with a shred of maturity will continue to do what we enjoy, not because it's more difficult or righteous than something else, but because it's what we genuinely enjoy. And we won't hate on others for doing their own thing, either. |

I've never tried Deshis. They sound good, but it just seems like everything they're trying to do, Remz does better. Their soulplates are ing indestrutable, though (and they also easily mount UFS Throne soulplates, if you so desire).
D-res, I don't know what was with those Salomons you tried, but I can tell you from experience (and others can too) that Salo's today are great. Not every skate fits everyone the same (or sizes the same, for that matter). Maybe they weren't so good a few years ago, but these days they're definately good. My salos were always smooth (huge shock absorber too).
Razors are pretty good... I had Shima 4's for a long time and they're good and strong. But I've never found a Razor skate that fits well. Yeah, they're comfortable, but they have NO ing heel lock. I can easily take my foot right out of my skate when it's supposed to be strapped on. That's a quick way to break your ankle, I nearly did twice on a pair of UFS Thrones that had the same problem (they're too long for me, I have a wide foot). It's also annoying as , when you do a big jump to get up on a tall ledge or rail, and your skates lagging behind your feet.
I've never heard much about Roces, except that they're comfortable... but they just don't have the skating performance as other brands, or they'd probably be a lot more popular. And yes, K2 sucks. |

Cheers, nrjizer and d-res :)
I'm going to make a research in the stores here in Brasília to check whether on-line shopping would be worth it. I'm going to look for these models you recommended and I will reply as soon as I'm more aware of what I can get (budget-wise :D) |

| Oh yeah, the other nice thing about Salomon is they are widely distributed, since Salomon is a huge company with many products besides aggressive skates. So it might be easier for him to find a pair in a store in Brazil. |
