Heh, Nintendo's Revolution better actually be a revolution cause if they honestly think that people don't care about performance then they got another thing comin. |

"Camera - Xenon will have a USB 2.0 camera. It's capable of 1.2 megapixel still shots and VGA video. Photos can be used in-game and for gamer profiles. The camera can also be used for video chat. It's unknown if the Xenon camera will allow for EyeToy-like gameplay. Developers are currently using a simulated camera driver."
Surprised me as well as the reviewer.
Interesting idea, actually.
Personally, I think there's no way this item won't be OVER $300. It's got such immense power... :eyes: |

| They're gonna sell it for $299...thats the mass market price nowadays it seems. Both the PS2 and XBox launched with those price figures...expect the same for the next consoles...with Nintendo skimping out as usual. |

Hope so. The companies are really pushing it considering they need more and MORE console sales each time before they make any profit.
I'm getting the feeling that we're approaching a point where game consoles will hit the $350-$400 mark. |

| Always been loyal to Playstation and previously Sega so PS3 for me, although Yan is right the prices are going up too much and too fast. The ESPN franchise I think noticed this and has droped its prices to 19.99, if you think of how many people by these and how much it costs to make them they should all be 19.99 and the systems should be 1/2 or 3/4s the price! |

not true. all the console companies make money from the sale of games, not the console themselves. its in their interest to keep console prices down so that more people buy them, and they can sell more games.
i mean, how many 12yo's can afford expensive consoles, eh? hahaha. |

I'm thinking you didn't fully understand what I meant. Video game companies make money BOTH off of console sales as well as of software sales. Forgot to mention that, I guess.
I don't know about you but the price of 4 new games (not counting sports since they're much cheaper now) rounds out somewhere at around $200. That's a console right there. If that were the case then kids would be playing 1 to 2 games a year, MAX, according to the logic that they can't afford the consoles. |

haha, just ignore my comments re the kids. was just trying to stir up you console fans :p
yeah, they make money off the consoles, but its not much. and as time progresses, they make less and less. the money is in flogging as many units to as many people, then making the profits with the games. whilst games are expensive to make, once theyre made, it costs them fvck all to mass produce the fvckers.
by the time the PS1 had asserted its dominance on the market, their units were selling for fvck all. i know a store i worked in made about $4AU of each unit, and (apparently) sony's profit wasnt that much more.
its in the games fellas. |

True that!
Also, important to note is that the companies set quota for their consoles that they must reach otherwise they'd consider it a "Dreamcast" (pun only the video game fans'd get). Poor Sega. We hardly knew ye. |
