What about Maynard James Keenan from Tool and A Perfect Circle? The mans lyrics are golden. His song writing is second to none.

One could even argue Marilyn Manson, brilliant song writing, and helped influence many a band in the mid to late 90's while single handedly pissing off every conservative in the country.
