Just wondering which trance/dance events are worth going to and which ones to steer clear of?
Nyquist_Theorem
for sure you're kidding in asking that question, right? :nervous:

I wasn't kidding, but I assume from your reply that there aren't any really worthwhile events. Am I correct in assuming this?

no i was saying that because it read like an obvious troll, ie a post designed to make people argue about which events/venues are crap, and which are great, since, if you hang around here long, you'll realise that one person's awesome event/company is another persons sellout/failure.

the short version of the story is this:

australian cities, and melbourne and sydney in particular, have superb dance music 'scenes' that belie their size and geographic location. tell us what kind of music you like, and what kind of party you prefer, and when you wanted to go (im assuming youre from a place far from bris/melb/syd?) and there's a pretty good chance we'll be able to line you up with more worthwhile events than your wallet and body can handle. :D

anyone who's lived in another major non-european city will back me up when I say that australia's dance music and dance party scene is absolutely ace...

The first question is....exactly what type of trance/dance you into??

uplifting, driving, nrg, hardstyle, psy, tech...this ultimately determine's what type of events you would actually attened :)

And the other thing is ... these days you cant really comment on an actual event because it depends on who is playing.

For example, Godskitchen is a good event to attend, but what is the point of going if there aren't DJ's playing there you want to see.

:)

*edit oh F*** i basically said what matt did!!

If your in Sydney the big Trance events to go to would probably be:

1) Transmission (predominantly Hard Trance)
2) A Night Of Trance (predominantly Uplifting Trance)

I am based in Newcastle and generally prefer hard trance, vocal trance, techno and anything that has synths and or vocals and a wicked bassline.

DaveBegic
dude, even some rnb uses synths.

Ok - well I know I am not into RnB, I generally like tracks produced by AVB, Tiesto, PVD, Dumonde through to things like Brooklyn Bounce(What Genre do they fit into?), Darude etc. Basically anything that is really progressive (nothing too constant like Gabber) and has awesome build ups and climaxes.
