Yeepp, that's right, I just sold my mint condition JP-8080. The reason why I sold it was that I got kind of fed up with the supersaw. It's everywhere now and has been everywhere for a couple of years now. It is more than worn out now. It was pretty much impossible to make new sounds with the supersaw that actually sounded good.

It isn't really that advanced either, no nice mod routings that can make odd sounds.. And then there is the crappy filter, 24dB LPF with resonance totally sucks ass.. And it's klicking when you have a short attack too.. You can hear that in some old DJ Tiësto songs or whatever it was.

Allthough I have to admit that i sampled the supersaw and my favourite Ferry lead :p

To fill the VA gap I've bought an Access Indigo, it should arrive any day now :D

yes, i would definitly prefer a virus over a jp (having owned both seperatly)

But in within the next month, i'm hoping to own BOTH a JP-8000 and a Virus B :D
ErikC
Aah nice, but why are you getting the Virus B again? Why not try out the Waldorf Microwave XT or some other synth :p
alanzo
Because I can't part with my JP-8000 and don't want to buy a mixer/new sound card.

When I said Virus B, I meant Virus Powercore.. they're the same thing, basically ;)

How much did you sell it for ?

I'm thinking of selling my 8080 for the same reason....have a Virus that gets waaaaay more use.

At this point I mostly use the 8080 for pads, the supersaw leads are so overdone. And of course, with a little pan-spread detune unison, the virus does pretty sweet pads too.

I sold it for 5000SEK so thats about 700$.. The reason why it is so high is that the dollar is not worth that much anymore. Before the war a dollar was worth about 10sek and not 6.8 like it is now.

Yeah, I used my JP-8080 for pads too, however my JD-800 is much more suited for that..
