Hey .. I was just wondering, coz mastering is such an important process and makes one hell of a difference if done properly... for those of you who produced tracks for the TAs Unite set a couple of years back.. How did you guys master your tracks?

Were they professionally mixed down and mastered or were they mastered in your garage?

All i remember about that mix is that most of the tracks sucked :p

But i'm sure that almost all of the tracks where mastered and produced by the artist.

long long time ago :D

the most tunes (or every tune) aren't mastered professional. the artist did it by himself. and the matering isn't that important at all. it's more the mixing which gives the real pro sound...

Most of the tracks had little or none mastering done to them, which made my job really hard seeing how there could be a 50% difference in sound alone in 2 tracks that got mixed with each other. There were also eq issues, I had to re-eq several tracks that either had no bass whatsoever or were trebly as hell. I did some remastering, cutting and editing to a few tracks there but due to the lack of time I had most of the tracks just had to go in as they were.

At that time not many of us were really doing any mastering to our tracks. I think it was around unite 3 when people started realising the meaning of it, before that we just made tracks, exported them straight out of the program and made them mp3s. It's been kinda fun to see how during that time us TA producers used to evolve together as a group. These days, though, I can't even recognise most of the people posting here anymore but that's a whole different story...
