hey im havin alot of trouble with mastering...

i make my tracks in sonar - even with drums., I use a sampler for the drums..and vanguard for the synths. When i come to eq a sound theres so much buzzin in it,, meanin the highs need to be put down, but when i go to do that it takes the life out of the sound, the doesnt sound the same anymore. Wut can i do to fix this

Man that's some serious eq'ing. I don't think that will leave him much to work with. :p

Post a sample of the track youre working on and I'll work with it and tell you what I did (if I can that is).

Maybe you just need to lower the filter frequency on your synths a little bit? Most softsynths are pretty raspy sounding when the filter is opened up, so that might help.

Try using a parametric EQ to take out some high frequencies from sounds that don't really need 'em. Make the Q as narrow as possible, then widen it out until you lose something, then bring it back a bit.

Post production mastering really isn't needed if you mix everything down properly. If you can get the individual tracks balanced out right and keep things from getting muddy by taking out certain frequencies so each sound has it's own space, then the only thing you really need is some gentle compression and normalization.
