After the rape, he drove the woman's car away and dumped it on Tyneside.
Mr Justice Grigson ordered the teenager, who cannot be named, should be detained for life.
Sentencing him, the judge added: "These problems are not of your own making, but it is plain that until these problems are dealt with you are very likely to commit other offences, other offences as serious as this.
"So the public has to be properly protected until such time as your problems have been assisted."

Judge basically says, it's not entirely your fault, but you anyway. Too harsh? Does the punishment fit the crime? |

No, the punishment does not fit the crime. A more appropriate punishment would have been to castrate him.
Actually imprisonment as a punishment doesn't fit very many crimes. Most of the time, it doesn't really have anything to do with the crime at all. |

I agree that the punishment doesn't fit the crime, especially for a 13 year old. Then again, they could've just rode him out of town on a rail....Thunderdome style! |

| All rapists should have their balls cut off IMO. Dont send em to jail just cut em off so they can never do it again. |

too harsh? yes.
however, if i assume for a moment that the circumstances of the crime indicate without a doubt he knew exactly what he was doing, and i was even more convinced of his moral compass through testimony of his recent personal history (the ability to distinguish right from wrong), then i would give the maximum allowable to a minor. but ! is that "warehoused for life" in England? |

A 12 year old boy's mind is still biologically developing.. They usually dont reason on the same level as adults do, so I dont see the point in sending this kid to prison for the rest of his life..
Sure, some kind of jail time would be in order, but not a life's worth of it. Rehab needs to be the main priority in cases like this..
It's obvious this kid had some trouble growing up as a child (perhaps he was raped himself) and locking him up in a jail cell is just like hiding the problem under the rug. |

probably.... but the kid is 13 ffs.. Give the poor bastard a chance for some rehab.

Its not that this kid raped someone, its that he is blatently gonna be a chav, thats why he should be put to death! |

Yes, yes it is (chavism has the potential to cause a complete break down of society and that is more dangerous than any single criminal act it and is even worse than any terrorist threat this country will ever face, Mi5 have to infiltrate the chavs) |
