So a guy calls me a couple of weeks ago ,Says you are being audited ,I need all your bills, recipts, your bank records for 2002
etc.... As soon as you get al those papers in order call me and Ill come over to your house and deal with them..
So im like wtf?? He calls me out of the blue,,on my home number, yet he doesnt know where i live.So I say ok Ill call you back in a week.( I havent) Yesterday he calls me and says If you dont comply with the audit ,CRA charges you 10,000 dollars penalty fee for non compliance. So Im again WTF!!! This bozo is gonna charge me 10,000 dollars for WHAT? He never sent me a letter ,like he said he did. Ive tried to confirm his identity through CRA ,they dont know who he is,but they dont deny that he might work for them.
He gave me a number to his supervisor, which seemed legit,,I called that nimber 10 times and no answer back.
Im out of ideas here.HElp would be much appreciated:)

There cannot be just "someone" calling your house and starts asking for all those personal information on your bank accounts, ect. It is clearly a scam based on what you have told.

Even though you might have owe money to a company, they will inform you in writing first as a warning or some sort of notice. That is the legeal way to contact that individual. I would suggest you contact the law inforcement and let them know about the situation if that particular caller keeps on calling back. You can even report as a harassment to the police too.

As above.

You have no idea who is on the other end of the phone no matter what they say.

Officially you should receive a letter or something in writing.

The guy keeps saing that he sent me letters ,which I havent got.
He does have a 410 number, which is a CRA official number. My 10 day compliance period just expired. So if this is legit, they can fine me for 10,000 dollars.

But i havent signed any letters,I havent seen this guy or his Id.His "supervisor" hasnt called me back after 10 messages i left her.
If this guy calls me back... (Please finish the sentence for me)

Firstly I'd contact the Fraud dept. but they may not be able to help and if time is of essence....you don't want to sit on this. So I think to safeguard yourself also send a letter to CRA.
BTW...going in person may or may not always be the best solution. Hard copies of letters stand up in court better. I'd do both...I'd go in and I'd send the letter.

If you have the supervisors name and number, then have CRA provide you with a fax for the supervisor or a fax for someone that handles audits.

Fax a letter (date it as of the expiry date...walk in with a copy in hand) to the supervisor giving the details you've given us (keep a confirmation slip)and write your concern that this may be a scam...and that your require a confirmation that an audit is required.

Note on the top of the Letter
"Without Prejudice"
and Send it by both Fax and registered mail...and state so on the letter "SENT VIA FAX & REGISTERED MAIL"
Get on this ASAP NOW.
Ask this supervisor to contact you immediately to verify who this guy is and that he is actually an employee with CRA.
State on your letter that no previous mail has ever arrived to your home requesting for you to come forth with private information.

Do this and it should help save your ass, if this is legit and it has to go to court. A judge will note that you have made all reasonable attempts to verify from CRA.

I hope you've kept a date and time log of all phone calls made to this supervisor.

I hope little bit of legal advise helps.
Best of luck

Well it wouldn't suprise me if there really is a Mr. Lala with the CRA. I've heard some wierd names come out of there.
I wish I could be of more help but procedurally it's hard to say if this is legit or not. The CRA tend to makeup their own rules of procedure. There is no norm to how they audit or do things in there.
Now how did this guy get your cell?

The next time he calls ask him to give you his mailing address and department information. If he questions it, tell him that you need to be able to contact a person from his department and have not gotten a return call and want to call the head of his dept. Do not devulge that you have contacted the fraud dept. Try to sound genuinely concerned about your situation. In the event that he is a fake...the fraud dept (which have been known to disappoint ppl) may be able to still get on this bozo (if they're still not crying backlog).

BTW in case your wondering about "without prejudice". It means that anything written/said may not be used in evidence against you.
