i have the DX-626 and it's a decent mixer for the price

the VMX300 is most likely better than the DX-626 anyway

i think it just depends on the way you use it... practice and practice until you get the sound you want. every mixer is different, but in the end you can really achieve the same with anything as long as you know how to do it

Only bad DJ's blame the equipment.

The output quality on those Behringer mixers are terrible. You really do get what you pay for :haha: ...lucky I'm used to the pure quality of my xone 92 :D

Back to the topic, I've only had this happen a couple of times when I've played at home and havent bothered to set up the recording levels properly. Mixed a monster set and then went to play it back and it sounding crap :whip:

If I'm playing at a free party I always blag the best time slot so I get to play infront of the most people hehe :)

Well of course it's a different matter if the equipment is flawed.

true. my first mixer was this POS stanton where the faders would bleed like hell, but you learn to work with those. what doesnt kill your mix only makes you a stronger dj

mate ive been on twitchier decks than that and whilst i sucked in the mix, the guy who owned them didnt. hes got my respect for sticking with some decks that i consider trash and making beautiful mixes out of them. sure he makes the occassional mistakes - when the pitch drift is as bad as it is on belts its an inevitability. but he never trainwrecked once. and ive traiwrecked on techs for christs sake.

mr. mystery is so right when he says that bad DJ's blame their equipment. you can overcome the limitations of any peice of gear if you know what they are and put in the hours practicing to compensate for it.

i dont know how ur mate handles it, but with me i cant make smooth transistions with the vmx 300. i think its the tiest mixer ever. i dont know why i have it. im saving up for the xone 92.

what? :conf:

back on subject, i use to have this problem. my best set so far had been at 4am at a house party nearing its end, with the remaining people all drugged up their asses all lying around in chairs. after the first few tracks, they were all dancing and screaming... all 15 of them.

i finally broke this tradition last month on my bday, i spun a peak hour set. beautifully mixed, powerful tracks. only got to spin 9 tracks though, as there were 3 other DJs in line and seeing as i'm the newbie in the group, i decided to quit while i was ahead. people asked me to keep going, so i went back on at 4am and did a small closer set.

the mixer was a brand new VMX300 that day... and to tell you the truth... I LOVED THE THING. sure, it's not amazing, but for low end mixers, i found it had great faders. the volume fader curve adjustment was also great, made the mixer versatile enough to cater to the different DJs, from deep funky house at the beginning of the night, to prog and tech house and the middle, to 3 deck techno nearing the end.

decent cueing, faders, EQs. i don't see what's the prob. sure, it's no Allen & Heath, but it was nice.

My closest experience is bangin out a hot set (with records I hadn't played previously, nonetheless) only to find that my MiniDisc had stopped recording about 40 minutes in.

On top of that, the 40 minutes that I did get were crap. The Disc was so messed up, the player sounded like it was skipping every 2 seconds or so.

I mean, I hit this one transition and it left me with a huge grin on my face. I'm thinking "I CANNOT ING WAIT TO HEAR THAT!"
So I check the player to see how long I've been going and how much time I have left, only to see that it had shut off and stopped recording.

MAJOR disappointment.

i hate it when that happens! my battery would die or for some reason it didnt start recording when i hit rec and play... i did it just the other night... i was a little drunk but it was a hella good set
