I switched from using Cubase SL to Acid Pro 4 as my main PC DAW. Since then, I have upgraded to version 5. I love Acid's layout. It's so easy to understand and navigate.

that's a great piece of software...i used ACID for quite a long time but i discover a few bugs in the soft that even SONIC FOUNDRY coudnt give me some answers.i never test 100% the new version made by SONY but i'm sure that it is much improved

yeah, the layout is great, but i'm wondering if it is good enough to publish tracks with (with the assistance of soundforge of course)

of course .... theres a lot of producers that use only acid+sound forge .if people over here speak only about cubase,fl,reason, logic or ableton doesnt mean that acid or any other software are crap.you just need to look at the features and you will see that acctually there isnt such a big difference.

Acid Pro is most definately good enough to publish tracks as your DAW. The question is whether or not Acid Pro is the DAW that's suitable for your needs. Some folks like Cubase, others prefer Live; but still some, like me, enjoy Acid Pro. It's more of a preference decision.

I used to use ACID years ago to make wicked little bootlegs (ahh the old days of dropping acapella's over tunes) it was pretty good for that.
How is acid nowadays? does it have support for MIDI instruments and VSTI's? its been years since i used it. |

Yes. MIDI recording was included in version 3. It was quite limited, but greatly improved upon in versions 4 and 5. VSTi and DXi support was added in version 4. VST effect support was added in version 5. Prior to version 5, most people used DX effects with Acid Pro.

I've used Acid extensively for remixes and beat-matching. But when it comes to using your own bass lines, leads, etc, I find myself using other programs for that. As you know, other programs such as P5 can be slaved to Acid. The end product works out nicely.
