Im having some trouble getting cubase to record some outboard effects.
Im using:
Behringer 1604 Mixer
Roland SRV3030 Reverb Unit
Audiophile 2496
Cubase SX2
I have the Behringer
Alt 3-4 --> Audiophile I/O's (1)
Audiophile I/O's (2) --> Channel 11-12
Roland 3030 Out --> Channel 1 In
Roland 3030 In --> Aux Send 1
Although I can hear the reverb effect taking place on all of my sound output through my sound card. I cant figure out how to actually record the effect on my tracks in cubase or how to just use them as a send/insert effect. I should have the Bus's set up correctly.
Any ideas? |

Hmmm...let's see...mixers confuse me a lot but I manage to figure them out. I have a Delta 1010 and a Mackie 1402-VLZ PRO and it confuses me sometimes when using outboard effects. Since I'm dizzy right now and can't think straight, I'll refer you to TWEAKHEADZ website...the guy is old school and his tutorials are very easy and friendly to understand.

This guy is awesome...everytime I have a doubt or get stuck, I usually find my answer in his website. |

yea I used that site when I very first got my mixer, really helped out a lot. Unfortunately he dosent get into too much detail regarding setting up effect processors. |

heres how i would do it Solo Each CubaseTrack needed out > outboard >record back into cubase as an audio file>work from there |

Or go to Mackie's website...they have a PDF manual of different setups. It's pretty easy to understand the diagram and it doesn't apply to Mackie mixers only. |

Theres some really useful stuff in there, wish I would have had that diagram a couple months ago hehe :D
I put the Roland 3030 Out to Aux Return instead of a channel.
Tried to solo and record again but only with the same results (I Can hear the reverb but it only records the raw audio file without reverb)
Im stumpted |

I also just noticed the audiophile monitor mixer dosent respond when the reverb unit makes noise. So its obviously not detecting any activity from that rack at all.
I have been scanning over all my RCA cables, everything seems to be in order. I do have some of the I/O's only on the left channel (In mono) but I couldnt see how that would effect anything. |

The problem is that the the sounds from the effect returns don't go out of the ALT output busses. I think you need to send the FX outputs into your mixer channels inputs, and then send those channels to ALT 3/4 as well as the channels you want to record. |

Awesome! That worked out good
however that leads me to my next issue. I now can see the reverb being recorded, when I extract the single track into an audio file the reverb does take effect which I can hear. But in the mix/sequencer itself I cannot hear it if the FX is bypassed or turned down.
