i saw him a couple of days ago , and wasnt very impressed to be honest . his mixing was spot on , but his track selection was weird , he started the set with some nice funky progressive house , then moved to this squeeky , techno-ish , haunted house music ....:conf: i hope this is not the new sound djs are spinning now !

but he is a very nice guy . had the chance to talk to him before his set . :D

I've heard htat hes really inconsistent. Luckily when I saw him, he rocked! IMO he is a top notch Dj, one of the best out there. Try listening to his live mixes before you make an opinion of him.

Howells is one of the wierdest dj in my opinion. It seems as though he is playing a lot more crappy vocals getting more Sanderlike each day. Howells is definately better when he throws down his hard dark beats. but he can be really boring at times, and lull you to sleep with boring house.

It seems like he is always out to have a good time, never seen him not enjoying himself.

One of the best features of Danny Howells' djing is the diversity he puts into his sets. House, prog, tech, breaks: he drops them all in and while not everything he plays is going to be to everyone's tastes, it's that eclectic sound that makes him such a great DJ. He probably plays more house these days than he used to, but he's had a consistently "housey" sound since his Nocturnal Frequencies days imho. Needless to say, if you don't like quality house music then look elsewhere.

I've seen him twice (in 2002 and 2003 - he's coming out here again in June :happy2: ) and they remain two of the best sets I've ever seen.

The sort of house that Sander K and Danny Howells play are different I think. Both are quality DJs, but Sander Kleinenberg seems to play more the big-room, psuedo-anthem house where as Danny Howells takes the more subtle, soulful route. If you don't like house then, again, you probably won't like Danny Howells, but if you have an open mind with regards to music then there aren't many better DJs out there than Danny Howells.

Saw Howells myself for the first time on Saturday nite past at Lush in Ireland, where he was playing before Paul van Dyk. He played for only two hours but rocked from start to finish, playing a bit of everything really. I was well impressed i must say.

Brilliant. His sets aren't suited to everybody's tastes but his versatility is second to none. The first time I saw him he played everything from Mistress Barbara to Groove Armada to James Holden. Plus, it's a joy to watch him behind the decks, he's always having a great time.
