track

no euphoria.
no supersaw leads.
no virus nor jp8000.
no 2-minute long hands-up-in-the-air buildups.

just a 138 bpm mellow oldskool trance track done with softsynths only in cubase sx2.

file is 128kbps mp3, about 7 mb in size, 7 minutes long. mixdown aint perfect since it was done this night at about 2 am while playing at VERY low volume.
comments appreciated anyhow.
also, if someone wants to collaborate, please make a proposition :)

Hey, nice track. Very straight forward and original.

Its definately infused with a goa sort of feel to it which I really like. Those arpeggiated molodies are pretty sweet, not very euphoric like you say but I think theres definately a driving force behind them that makes it sort of epic.

1.24... that synth could do with some fattening up (no supersaw though!)

The percs need more work ihmo.. the clap especially seems to stand out too much in the mix at the moment. You have a reverb on the clap on the fourth beat which I think works quite well.

The piano at 5.27 just ruins it for me though... god I hate pianos with a passion. They do much more harm than good. Thats just personal preference.

This is a really cool track though. The melody and feel is there. The synths sound a little dry at times and could maybe benefit from some fx. Mixdown needs work as you say but overall I really dig it.

if you ever have to mix at low levels again, keep in mind the flecher/munsun curve which basicly says that at low levels, the lows, and highs drop signifigantly compared to the mids.

great tention in this one I love "builder" tracks.

it makes me move, which is good.
I hear a breakdown, you lied(I'm putting my hands in the air right now, bust out the glowsticks and pacifiers)just kiddin

I thought the breakdown could have been a little more aggressive if that's what you're going for.

I dunno if pianos are the best thing for a non-euphoric track, but you did a pretty good job with it

I dunno if the outro would mix well, I guess I"d have to try it.

Keep it up dude

What about in that Envio- Digital Dream song? Pianos arn't allways bad IMO.

I think they are a two edged sword. The can really work if used in the right place, or they can destroy an otherwise well crafted track and turn it into a endless pit of cheese.

But like I say, thats just my opinion. Theres plenty of well produced tracks with pianos in them.

Anyway, we should stop highjacking this guys thread with our piano debate... sorry h.vox:p

well, it is my thread, and as i said in my post, you are all invited :)

anyway, the piano is influenced by a friend of mine who made one helluva piano track, and we were also talking abount some oldskool trance tracks with pianos like humate's love stimulation and vision of shiva's how much can you take, so i just had to put it there :)

now it does not really fit as good as it fitted two nights ago, but i think it will stay in there anyway :)

in the latest version i added some low strings to the part with the second lead (about 1.30) because i noticed, just like you all did, that the track somehow lost the flow in that part. adding chorus, a bit of phaser and more delay is on the way for that lead :)

anyway, for those interested in technicalities: the leads and the background arp is discovery, string is fm7, piano is a freeware piano soundfont played with sfz, two reverbs are spinaudio's roomverb v2, and the master is put through rather heavy processing with endorphin. the track eats up whole athlon64 2800+.

and about the mixing at low levels - that is a problem, because i am barely home, and when i am home, my brother is playing warcraft 3 the whole day. it is unbeleivable.

once again - thank you all for your comments guys. much appreciated.

yeah, deleted it .... here's the link with the slightly edited version (changed the kick, new synth for a bassline, and slight arrangement changes), with a new name too.

I like the oldskool-elementh in it. The synths make me think of Goa, but then in another way:) I must say that the rhythm slightly lacks detail, and also the bass is too soft.:( Rich synthesizer structure, though. A good song:D
