Please dont take offence to this, but its ok for you to say that when you are in Canada. The people aren't united as the Hizballah rally showed last week. I'm not saying how its split (I would estimate there are more people on the oppositions side than on the pro-Syria side and also I think the opposition is far more diversified) but the whole country is clearly not united and Hizballah are very popular and very influential (and have lots of guns) (not that radical Islamists should really be siding with a regime that slaughtered the Muslim brotherhood in Syria but I guess if Hizballah's relationship with Syria is purely oppertunist then maybe there's hope for Hizballah and the future of Lebanon)

Saying that, I hope the opposition is successful and I hope it means Lebanon can have a successful future.

i understand ur point but am in canada since 4 years and i came here only for my university and i go back to lebanon @ xmas and summer to c my parents
of course am afraid for lebanon, but am telling you what my friends and families r telling me, cause we have different friends from various religions as u know
there won't be a civil war
i lived it and every lebanese won;t let that happen again
for hizbullah, am against their disarment cause they freed the south of lebanon but i do want the syrians out of my country
it is not acceptable what they did when i was young, killing many political persons, we were silent for many years cause they controlled us but now it is enough
as we say in lebanon(tikhantouwa), it means enough is enough
@ the end, i want good relations with syria but i want them out of my beautiful country

I'm sure the Sunni, Druze and Christians would unite, but its gonna be a problem for the Shia as UN Resolution 1559 (or whatever number it was!) calls for Hizballah to disband. I know Hizballah get support (or more precisely, are allowed to operate) by Syria, but I think there is a chance they will fall into line as long as America keeps its nose out and allows Hizballah to carry on taking a part in Lebanese politics (as they have done a lot of good and are popular throughout the country). Also there are the Palestinians to think about (not sure who they are supporting?)

But like you said, you have history on your side and if enuf people remember how bad it was everyone will go out of their way to ensure it never happens again (and like I said earlier, if it does, wait til after the summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

it's a third of the actual population of Lebanon, not imported Hezbollah supporters.

Do you have a source that says the people at the Hizballah rally are not from Lebanon?
