I'm trying to book a flight at expedia and travelocity. I found a good price picked the flights, enter my credit card info, book the flight, then I get this message the price has changed. Total bull! This has happened twice now, so I get the feeling they intentionally list a cheaper price to lure you in and then change it as soon as you enter your credit card info. Has this happened to anyone else? |

I've had plenty of bad experiences booking travel online, so although I've never encountered this particular problem myself, I think it is likely that the feeling your are getting is correct. |

I've had that happen, but only a couple of times. I think it depends on your timing, and how long you have the page open, before deciding. I just booked a flight on Travelocity (I think), yesterday, and it went through fine. |

Its not a matter of timing because if i redo a new search with the same flight it comes up with the lower price again.
Anyways I ended up purchasing directly through Airline's webs site. That way I at least get the frequent miles award.
rant over :) |

you should never book your flight through expedia or travelocity. use those sites to find the cheapest flight and then book it directly through that airline's site. you will save at least $5 per ticket and also most airlines give you 10% or so off for booking directly through them. plus you can usually get miles for booking through the airline's site. |

Your right, I ended up going tru the airline's site for the reasons you listed. So much hype around those online booking companies, they're really only good for comparison shopping. Priceline sucks too because you know they're going to stick you with a redeye flight. Who wants to save like $40 bucks to be put through that . |

redeyes can have their advantages though. i usually take the redeye when i go home for a weekend cause i dont have to take time off work and it sufficiently screws up my sleeping habit so i can be awake for a late saturday night in new york. i could never take a redeye and then go straight to work though. i know people who do that and they must be nuts or something. |

yeah avoid the consortium...it takes more time but check every airline and call if they are still ing you over. the prices are always balls, but early planning and persistence can pay off (not WILL pay off).
best of luck. get out of the US if poss, the prices drop from there| |
