Recording your mixes

| Well, considering I don't have a PC I can put near my turntables to record a mix, what other alternatives are there? Is there a device maybe that I can plug in somewhere that records it and then I can upload it to a PC? What about just normal recording devices? Is the quality good enough from them? What do you guys do. |

| you can use an mp3 player that has direct encoding, meaning that you can record directly onto it and it will convert it to mp3 format. Then you can upload it to a computer afterwards. |

| Mini Disc players work great aswell. DannyO uses an IRiver, which work awesome from what I have seen and heard so far. |

| I use an external cd burner. The main limitation, however, is that you can only record mixes of up to 80 mins, but other than that it works perfectly. |

No clue really. But if you go to your local Best Buy or other electronics store they should be able to answer that...plus they will gear you up with all the necessary cables you will need to record the mix in your computer. :D
I would personally advice to get an MD player. They usually record with high sound quality and they're not as expensive as the really powerful mp3 players...I think. |

I have an iRiver and it has it. Look for 'direct encoding' as well as a mic input (probably an 1/8th inch jack) to hook up to your mixer. |

| before Sound Forge, I used to use a good old fashoin cd recorder. They're a bit dated now, but I'm sure you could pick one up cheap. |

| The iRiver sounds promising. I'm sick of my iPod because of the lack of features and especially the low battery life. So where on the mixer would I be plugging in the iRiver? |

| Ok right now I'm looking at two models: the H320 (20GB)and the new H10 (5GB). How big are these compared to an iPod? |

its more time consuming but i record to DAT....u can get very nice ones for cheap on ebay.....
u can record up to 6 hours......and u just record right over the old recording
it works well for me |

Well I figure I want the mp3 player because it is portable. I noticed a feature on some of the models that allows me to record independent of the PC or mixer or whatever, which I was hoping I can use for other purposes :) |
