Romantic Restaurants in NYC?
View this Thread in Original format
Punkaweedus
Hi all,

I'm heading out to Manhattan in mid-April for vacation, and was planning on asking my girlfriend to marry me while on a horse-drawn carriage ride through central park. Afterwards a nice dinner somewhere close, then a broadway show, then back to the hotel to seal the deal hehe. I've been trying in vain to find a good, quiet, romantic restaurant near the southeast corner of Central Park. I've read dozens of restaurant webpages, but cannot figure out which would be suitable.

Anyone have a recommendation for an upscale restaurant in this area (or any part of midtown for that matter)?

Any help you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated!

well if youre looking for pricey and great food thats by the park id suggest

Tavern On The Green

Central Park at West 67th Street, New York City, New York, United States, 10023 | Phone: 212.873.3200 | Fax: 212.580.4265

heres the website:

yea Tavern on the Green.... thats what i meant

is the 4 seasons in central park also??

One If By Land Two If By Sea -- pricey, but easily one of the most romantic spaces in new york city (they get about a half-dozen proposals per week).

edit: OBTS is in the west village but if you're looking for romance and good food it can't be beat. (btw, skip tavern-on-the-green; if you're going to spend that much money there are dozens of better places in the area)

umm the 4 seasons is 5th ave at 61st street. so yeah its by the park but thats more expensive, and the food isnt that great.. rainbow room is nice but its old... i say Tavern is the best bet ;)

EDIT: oh yeah and also if youre planning on doing this at a certain date pick one of these restaurants and call to make reservations right away believe me they fill up fast, real fast lol.

yes, we are. read The New York times (march 16, 2005) we got 4 * again. I love the name of the article "Only The Four Stars Remain Constant".
I'm proud but it's a tough job. Lovin' it.
