really ill keep that in mind , yeah but i find when i drink grapefruit its much better, than when i drink orange juice b/c with orange juice the high isnt as great and it makes me sick after. I wonder why that is

Thats cuz if you drink too much orange juice, the acids have an adverse effect on your stomach and it'l hurt a while after. Though it is true, i figure the best way to eat mushrooms is straght, and washing them down with orange juice, or another acidic drink. They usually kick in really quickly this way. One time i put an 8th of mushrooms in a taco bell potato and beef burrito, called a "boomerito" lol, and it took almost an hour and a half for them to come on full force. The less eats, the better, imo.

then how come I dont get sick with grapefruit, as I would with orange juice. yeah the not eating trick I found that out the hard way never used to eat more than 2 g on a mush night and on christmas eve had a big dinner, well was eating all day and took abt 4 g of mush and sober the whole night thought it was the stuff but the next week had no food and had 2.5 g of it and it was awsooome

I don't really know if grapefruit juice/orange juice would really improve a mushroom trip any at all... I'm not sure if the liver enzymes inhibited by grapefruit juice would cause any potentiation (pretty doubtful), and I don't think ascorbic acid/orange juice really has any effect (unless someone can prove me otherwise).

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors would probably enhance the potency a lot, but they are dangerous..

well I know that grapefruit breaksdown food faster and speeds up ur motabalism , know this from experience. So if it breaks down the food then it would allow the posions from the mushrooms to attack your body faster b/c it has more space to, but im just guessing.

No, usually grapefruits interferes with metabolism by competing with other drugs for metabolism by certain liver enzymes...eg, grapefruit juice potentiates xanax, because they are both broken down by the same enzymes.

I don't think psilocybin/psilocin are mostly metabolized by the liver though, so it wouldn't change things...

Im planning on doing my art exam under the unfluence of drugs - should have some "groovy" results

i've heard of people taking vit c supplements to potentiate mushrooms or acid... but i think i've heard that it doesn't really work, its just a power of suggestion thing.

what I do know for a fact is that vitamin C does potentiate opiates... especially freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. something about how it inhibits the CYPD26 enzyme or something like that. i've also heard that pre-loading with a vitamin c tablet helps with rolling, something to do with antioxidants being good for your brain.

Grapefuit juice does, but vitamin C does not. Bluelight:

"Grapefruit juice can inhibit the gastrointestinal activity of two enzymes known as cytochrome P450 CYP3A4 and CYP1A2, though the effect on CYP1A2 is minimal. This causes elevated plasma levels of some drugs, because they are able to pass into the bloodstream without being broken down by enzymes in the intestine. Due to variations in enzyme levels in the intestine from person to person, effects will vary.
The specific chemical responsible for this action is not known. There are a few suspects including various flavonoids and other phytochemicals called furanocoumarins. Concentrations of these compounds vary from one batch of juice to another. Higher concentrations are found in white juice compared to red, and the highest concentrations are found in the pulp of the fresh fruit. One glass (200 ml) of fresh juice was found to be equal in effect to two or three glasses of double strength reconstituted frozen juice. This suggests that store bought juice, which is often from concentrate, must be consumed in large quantites to for effects to be noticed. Consuption of 6-8 glasses of fresh juice may lead to inhibition of CYP3A4 in the liver. The potentiating effect of grapefuit juice may last 5 or mores hours after ingestion."
