My computer struggles, looking for help

posting this from a friend's computer...
so today my laptop battery got really low and shut off by itself (does that at 3%, i was out of the room and got sucked into a basketball game and forgot to plug it in)
anyways, i came back to it and started it up and immediately shut it down w/o even logging on
didn't use it until this evening, got to a coffee shop in town and plugged it in and it won't turn on
the little battery light blinks orange like 6 or 7 or so times if i hit the power button, but nothing else
holding the botton does nothing
took out the battery, couldn't find any faulty connections or anything, checked the power cord and nothing's different, tried two different outles there
so idk wtf is wrong...anyone got any ideas?
(and i let it sit there for an hour plugged in even though it didn't look like it was charging and yeh, it didn't charge)

| dude sounds like what happens to a cars battery when its fried... no matter how much you charge it wont help. i think yo uneed a new battery. you cant charge starting at < 1 charge. |

| Try spitting onto the motherboard. Cleaning off that annoying dust & semmen helps. ;) |
