The city should be embarassed at stories like these.
Naturally the stores should not lose money by having carts stolen (yes, it's theft!), but I think it's quite silly (and really sad) that it's come to this.
It would be nice if the RCMP were transporting homeless people to shelters with available warm beds, decent food, medical treatment, etc. rather than simply to retrieve stolen property from them. |

Ok, get this.
Once I was grabbin some weed from a buddy of mine, and as I was entering the building, I read a notice on the wall. It was asking tenants not to leave buggies in the hallways/elevators/staircases.
This seems like a fair request, but you gotta read into it.
First of all, it didnt ask not to steal them from the local supermarket.
Second, it didnt say not to bring them on the premesis, as the building was SURROUNDED with buggies, I counted 20+ just goin to my car.
Third, it didnt say not to bring them into the building...just not to leave them abandoned.
So basicly it was ok to go shopping, spend say $20, rip off the buggie (they aint cheap, our buggies at Costco cost us $500 each), bring it into the building, in the elevator or stairs, and ditch it outside.
Just dont leave them in the hall
Sorry, had to rant.
carry on :happy2: |

| I don't remember ever seeing this in Windsor, ON. where I used to live, but here in Maryland a few stores are now getting shopping carts with a antitheft device that locks up the tires as soon as you leave the parking lot. There is a buried magnetic cable around the parking lot. I can't remember what the price is, but alot of stores say it is alot chieper than replacing all the stolen shopping carts. The street I lived on a few months ago, there were always people selling roses out of stolen carts down at the corner. Next time you buy groceries, look at one of the back tires of the shopping cart, to see if it has one of those things. |
