Pulp Fiction was brillant, The Last Temptation of Christ was brillant, A Beautiful Life was brillant, A Clockwork Orange, The Shinning, Psycho, The Sixth Sense, were all brillant.... cheesy, cookie cutter, watered down, teen angst/comming of age movies circa 1985 do not qualify as brillant.... |

well, it seems that people are grouping the two movies i stated with the other lame movies in the 80s with the same actors.
Ferris and breakfast club have a deeper story to them not just cookie cutter movies. there is real characters in them, unlike 16 candles or pretty in pink. |

There IS real characters...
I'll give you that both FBDO and Breakfast Club attempt to explore something deeper then most of the rest of the John Hughes 80s crap. In fact I'll even accept the FBDO may be an acceptable film... but not brillant. As for Breakfast club... anything with Molly Ringwald or Anthony Michael Hall in it doesn't qualify as anything more then filler in my book.... combine those two with Hughes (the same man that brought you all 5 of the Beethoven movies) and you have the worst examples of movie making ever. |
