fish problems (pg. 3)

It sounds like you have tiger barbs. they are very territorial. If you change the configuration of the tank often (cleaning the tank), they get stressed and die. If it is swimmming upside down, lost its color, has detroyed fins.........sorry, your fish is dead soon.

i had tiger barbs too, they are schooling fish and should be in groups of 6+. if your friend gave you 2-3 barbs then they are doomed.

There is nothing you can do. Tell your friend her fish are dying and to arrange for funeral services.

does it look like this

hahaha,

i just read the condition of the tank and your fish were dead to begin with. Tiger barbs are tropical fish and REQUIRE heaters and filtered water. your barb is basically in shock.....like when jamaicans come to Canada and feel the bitch cold for the first time.

your friend must be a rookie fish owner :D :D :D

barbs go for 1.49 each. make a trip to PJ's or Big al's

Your friend sounds very uninformed about owning a fish as a pet. Almost all fish require some sort of aeration & filter system. If she wants a fish that just lives in a plain bowl of water, she should get a Japanese fighting fish. (< BTW, they MUST live alone).
If the fish has something contageous, you should really just get rid of it so as not to contaminate the other fish. Good chance he's gonna eat the weaker one anyways.

what kind of person leaves their pet with somebody for over a month longer than they said they would?? She asked you to watch it for reading WEEK. If it dies in your care, and she tries to give you , give her right back and tell her she should have come to get it sooner.

ps. Japanese sword fighting fish: AWESOME!!

My niece had a japanese fighting fish. She went to show me how if she held up a mirror how it would change colour and freak out.

Only it was already dead. She'd had it for about 3 months.

Poor fishy.

ur fish is not doing so good man, itll be dead eventually.

I used to work at the meat and seafood department of a Dominion back in Oakville. We have this tank that we keep live trouts on, most times some of them would get sick, or do exatcly what u have described. Help the lil guy and end his misery

Kill it. :disbelief

the exact same thing happened to my siamese fighting fish last year. he started changing colours (fading) and had pieces of his fins flaking off. he ended up dying over nite in my hand. there was nothing i could do. *snif :( at least i was there for him in his 'last moments'. hehe!

anyyyways...the first signs of him dying is when he can't swim and floats in the water upside down. it might be too late already. but for future references, i think what u need to especially look out for is to only change the water once a week. before you change the water leave out a new batch of water about 24-48 hrs before you change it. the water temperature needs to be not too cold. if it's too cold they get shocked. also, make sure to put in the water conditioner b/c the chemicals in the tap water is what causes their fins to rot. if you put in too much food, the unconsumed stuff accumulates at the bottom of the tank and then causes bacteria to form, which is also a cause of the fins rotting.

i think you can get an 'antidote' or whatever you want to call it :p, to prevent the rotting from spreading further and to start the healing process. but you should really try to get that now otherwise it will really be too late. they die pretty quickly.
another good idea would probably be to separate the two fish otherwise the other one will get infected too, if he is not already.

i hope he makes it! good luck! :)

wow,

lots of fish experts..........very impressive.

Yes, changing your water often is BAD for your fish. Naturally occuring bacteria that develop over time are good for your fish!!!!

you should only change a small % of your total water and clean the algae and with a sponge.

PS. Is your fish dead yet? :haha: :haha:
i want a pic when its dead. It can haunt TA FOREVER!

MUHAHAAHAH
