| does anyone know anyone who has gone here? i was a little interested in learning more about it after seeing the website, seems like they have a pretty good producing program. if i were to go here though, since i am coming from the u.s., i don't think i would be allowed to have a job in the meantime with a student visa, so i would have to get a loan out to cover tuition and all of my living expenses for the year, so are there many parts of toronto to live in that are fairly affordable?? anybody looking for roomies next year?? :happy2:  |

| I went to the Harris Institute. If you are staying here, you will need a place to stay, a decent source of income (I'd recommend getting a job on the weekends), and make sure you have lots of time to study. The program can run anywhere from 6hrs a day to 10-14 hours a day, depending on the amount of classes and studio time. Also, be prepared to spend hundreds of dollars a week on beer, since there are 3 bars on the same block, one being 20 steps outside the building. |

i;m second semester producing/engineering there right now
i think you can find many affordable areas around the school
as for the part time job, there is no way you'd be able to handle it (i think)
even the professors will tell you that before you begin the year
it's intense, about 18 classes per semester, so you will enter the school around 10 am and exit around 8 pm (literally)
but the professors are great, each one of them currently involved in the industry, many with several awards for what they do in their field
aaaaand, thats about it i think :)
good luck |

| its sorta like a tech program i guess... the whole thing is like a year or two. harris art institute, its in toronto somewhere. i came across it on mixmag's site, apparently its one of the best programs in n america for music producing/engineering. i don't have the link cause im on my friends comp, but you could search for it and itll come up. i definately have to order more info off the site. i have another school in mind here in nyc, sae its called, but they definately both seem a bit different. i think i like this one more... should i take the school route :nervous: i dont in know what the hell im gonna do! |
