Good too, fair to say you might as well throw anything up by Ortofon. They generally don't make crap unless of course you happen to be a brand whore who just beleives that what you have is great and everything else is wank... and there are a lot of them around.
Bottom line is that there are very many good carts out there and it does kind of depend on the sound you want.
It still never fails to amaze me on how many different clubs I play at that still have stantons.
Cheers

i can't say enough good things about my shure M35X
1)cheap
2)low record wear (mine are at 1.75g)
3)SOUND AWESOME!

my personal choice would be a shure m44g...
light tracking force for little record wear, nice clean bass, good sound quality, and they're not expensive.
otherwise I would go for an ortofon blue or red. |

Didn't say there was anything wrong with stanton. :)
However in my opinion, they sound a little muddy and their tracking isn't as good as some of the other carts you get. I'm not going to slaughter them though, as they are a good entry point cart and I have had them for a number of years even at a time when there was nothing else.
There is a definate difference between stantons vs Ortofons or Whitelabes though. The latter two being superior in sound quality.
Cheers

| Thanks for the replies. Right now I'm spinning with Shure M44-7. Got them as a free-bee for buying my tables (Technics 1200 MK2). So further down I'm looking for the upgrade, looks like I got some choices :eyes: |

| my only complaint with ortofons is that they don't make a good cart that has tracking force below 2 grams. i'm kind of a freak when it comes to record wear, the less the better IMO, especially if you're spinning rare vinyl... |

the M44-7 are quiet decent if you are spinning trance and do not scratch a lot....:) |
