Chocolate Easter eggs

Just wondering,
Don't you guys have those huge chocolate eggs to celebrate easter? I've never seen about it in cartoons/sitcoms/tranceaddict and I doubt this is just a local thing.

well I think this could explain the connection , it seemed like a logical explanation for the connection between eggs and rabbits
In reality the association of Easter, eggs, and rabbits dates back to the early Christian era, when the celebration of the Resurrection became conflated with traditional spring fertility rites. Eggs and rabbits, for obvious reasons, are fertility symbols of long standing. Indeed, in the eighth century, the Venerable Bede speculated that the word "Easter" was originally the name of an Anglo-Saxon goddess of spring/dawn/fertility (although this has been disputed). Once again we find that one of our sacred days is tainted with lust. Incidentally, the usual symbol in Europe, where this all got started, is actually the hare. The relatively hare-starved U.S. was obliged to substitute the smaller but cuter bunny rabbit.
as for why the cadubury bunny lays eggs as from the explanation above, prob has to do with fertility. |

| speaking of which why is easter on different days , Im not catholic or christian and always wondered , how does one determine when it is easter, is there a consistancy. dont think there should be, since christmas is on the 25th |

It's always the last sunday in March isn't it?
Something to do with Jesus being killed on friday and then rising from the dead on sunday or something.
Not 100% because i'm not really religious but this is something I seem to remember from primary school. |
