I would like to know how to make a simple wind sound that pitches up as used in quite a lot of trance tracks. I use FL5 and the usual VST's. Also how do u draw a pitch in as an event in fruity so you can pitch up a synth note?

Tanx.

In a virtual analog, be it software or hardware, use the NOISE waveform and tweak away. Or i nCool Edit or another sound editing app that has noise generator, make a white noise clip...however long you want...then you can use reverb, filters, etc. to mess with it. Your imagination is the limit...there's so many things you can do to a simple white noise sound to make it sound awesome.

Thanks Rico. Do u know if v-station has this on it? And do u know the other thing about how to draw pitch in in FL5?

I had V-Station but lost the registration info on it so I cannot use it now. FL...I haven't messed with it in a while...I don't have it installed here. But the idea with everything is to "mold" that noise sound. If you use a sweeping phaser...it'll sound like those trance swooshes. Like I said, there's many things you can do...just experiment with different effects until you find something that you like.

yeah with the v-station you can mix in white noise with your OSCs, or turn off all the OSCs to just leave the noise.

Excellent, just done that. Wot I would like to know though is how you can draw a pitch in so that the white noise goes higher in pitch using one note. Or do you have to put a load of 16th notes in and draw them up the page?

Haven't FL but i guess you can automate the pitch-button in V-station in the pianoroll?

Actually, i haven't had much luck automating external instruments in FL...if there is a way , without doing it real time, i would love to know.

A filter would make it go "higher" in pitch. Low pass...it starts low and the more you open it, the higher pitched it'll sound. That's how I do it. A pitch envelope wouldn't make it sound like opening and closing...like the effect they use in trance. It'll sound the same but the pitch would only change, not all the sound of the swoosh. :)

Do you just right click the fruity filter and edit event then, or is there another way to do this? :-)
