so, avikonen (francis) and me went out to see this dude and first of all, the Maritime hotel was great- i had never been there. apparently it's an ian shrager hotel.. it's class. we zigzagged our way into the smaller room where mylo was playing, which was next to this beautiful chinese-inspired (dark wood, lots of red, and lots of chinese writing and lanterns everywhere, looked like you were on a ship, not coincidentally).. we agreed that that room should host some serious house/prog house djs, convinced that it would fuggin rock.
anyways, the girl who opened for mylo was HORRIBLE. she wasn't mixing at all, just sliding the crossfader back and forth, i you not. she just openly trainwrecked, as if that was acceptable or something. i wanted to bitchslap her but i was a little crunked.
mylo came on around 1, and was very danceable. his flow was really weird- all the sudden in the middle of his set he was playing straight up hip hop but the other parts of his set ruled... he played a mix between stuff you would hear from the defected label as well as some quirky electro stuff that nick warren now kind of likes to play- melodic, beepy but dancey. whatever that means :p
great night- the people there were really mixed but it was a very intimate setting and you couldn't avoid contact with people-- but just about everyone was very nice!! very pleased with everything overall. :D
two thumbs up, fine family fun. :tongue2 |

Hiro is a wicked venue! I would love to see Nick Warren play in that main room :eyespop: Crowd was okay. Mylo didn't really get going till 2 but was worth it. Played a lot of electro tracks. Will definitely have to go again for Sushi and hopefully a bigger event ;)
