TOTA Essential Mix Appreciation/Review Thread

Considering more than a couple times in week's passed various people have started threads about the current week's mix, I figured it'd be neater to place them all in a single thread.
So what are everyone's thoughts about this week's mix from Miami? Desyn's set wasn't nearly as good as I heard him at CREAM, or on his own essential mix a while back, as it wasn't either rough enough for me, or chuggy enough in the progressive direction to be really special for me. Gabriel and Dresden aren't really my style, but they had their moments in their set, most notably the mix of rachael starr's till there was you. I still love that track. I'm about 15 mins into Murk's hour, and so far this is much more my style. Darker, and harder hitting, it's definatly got my attention right now. |

| Well Desyn's hour is nothing compared to his solo 2-hour EM from October (then again, very few EM's are imo), but I still liked it. Last years EM from Sander and Pete Tong was the though. |

| I always enjoy essential mixes, some are better than others obviously, but i find some DJ's are a little more experimental, which i enjoy. I like to hear them try something a little new and unknown, makes for a good listen!:) |

Agreed.
Essential mix does a great job in having both new and upcoming DJs on the show, using their chance to mix as a chance to show what they've got to a large international audience, while providing enough big-name DJs with mixes to keep the audience interested. |

well i try not to compare EM played in a studio and a live one, its just something else. Almost every Dj plays different things in the studio and live.
I really liked this EM; cool jazzy feel to it, plus the best Ride rmx i've heard: Chable & Bonnici - 'Ride' [Mashtronic Mix] (Alternative Route).
I don't like the fact that it was only 1 hour long :whip: and ended in such a violent manner  |
