Monitor speakers

Hi, I have a couple of questions.

1. Is there a big difference between studio monitors and DJ speakers?
I have Quest 250 speakers and would there be a noticeable difference in sound quality between them and monitor speakers?

2. I am considering getting Behringer B2031A's, Alesis MK 1's or Event TR8's. Which are the best and are they're any others that I should be considering. Also, are these all good monitors?

3. Do I need to get active monitors as I have a good amp?

Thank you very much

1.Yes , there's a big diffrent in the price between em` and in the quality aswell , Monitors help u reveal things in your creation that speakers cannot reveal , for example noises , EQ Problems...overally the whole song , they got High Resolution...
2. I Can't really help u with this one the only i suggest is reading comparing and reviews about those products...

I use Mackie HR 824 for my studio, and they sound very clean. They are expensive though.

Is their a big difference between a DJ and a recording engineer?

Absolutely. :D

If you're used to how things sound on your DJ speaker you might actually work better off of it. I assume you're very intimate with how the speaker sounds? I'd at least have it around to check on. In monitoring it's more important you know your speakers than anything else. Even when you get a new set you're going to have to break them in and get used to them for months and months before you can even start to mix on them. It's like learning to walk again after a bad car accident. You have to go through physical therapy, and condition yourself again so walking is effortless. You need to be able to make mix decisions effortlessly as well. Nothing less will do. Yeah, I'm very serious about my craft.

As far as monitor brands, you won't know what monitors you like until you test them out. I'd recommend Dynaudios.
