i mean come on, the mans no.3 and i checked a tracklist of a new set posted on this site, and the mans still spinning for an angel and time of our lives, i loved those tracks, but i thought a big part of djing was going out of your way to find new tracks....

well those tunes you named blew me away when i first heard them. and somewhere in that crowd you were in ill bet there were people that either hadnt heard them before, or they still couldnt get enough of those tunes. why deny them the chance to go through it for the first time? or as many times as they want?

if you are getting bored of these people's sounds and their sets then its probably time for you to move on to something else. if you start to feel jaded about it, just go and find some other great music you can listen to with fresh ears. i remember getting into psy in the past year and hearing protoculture's mix of silicon sound. completely blew me away but ill bet some of the veterans of the scene had heard it rinsed a million and one times. in time, if i ever get bored of hearing this song roll out against sunrise, thats a sign for me to move and and find something else i might enjoy.

is it worth denying other people the enjoyment of hearing these songs again? even if you dont want to?

you're right, if i dont like it go find something else, but i never ever said anything like that, nor did i say i was still listening to these guys, and if i didnt like trance, i wouldnt be here. and u did bring up a very good point, wat about people who never heard these tracks before, thats a good point, but they got sets every where, where people can go and listen to these old tracks, there by leaving the dj plenty of comfort to constantly bring in new tracks there by not disapointing all the great fans hes brought in over the years.... see ur philosophy to me is saying "worry about bringing in new fans, and dont worry so much about the ones u earned" that philosophy isnt quite for me, but i respect where ur coming from... i also noticed though, that tracks i listened to approximately 10 years ago that blew me away, i play them for people now, they say they dont like it, and then i present them with todays sound of trance, and they like it.... by the way, this threads turned into a nice creative conversation.... very enjoyable
ESMdjm600
oh, just cuz i dont like the sounds of certain djs doesnt mean in anyway i dont like trance....
ESMdjm600
i keep forgettin parts of wat u said.. u say that y deny people who want to hear those tracks again after how many years... i dont see ne one anywhere doing reviews of recent sets by paul van dyk saying "he spun for an angel and time of our lives and it was great"

Those DJs you're talking about have done a lot more than any of us ever will to push dance music around the world. No they're not great technical mixers except for Carl Cox.

i thought pvd was a mixing machine (+1) or is carl cox pretty good with the EQ'S?

Good posts ESMdjm600 ;) I agree with you 100%

thanks, id be lying if i said i wasnt busting blood vessels thinking so hard.
ESMdjm600
just to say, i wasnt pissing on Mr. Cox, u had tiesto and pvd in the same sentence as him, i naturally glanced over Carl... Two things id like to say though. instances like this, wat seems to be pretty cool, i mite be wrong, but i dont see color lines... i dont see anyone going "u know that dj he goes ape on 3 decks and wat not?" and then someone answering him going "that black guy?" thats another thread for another day, but more than likely, i click search and there it would be. Other thing i wanna say off-thread, is that the depth of this convo has really regenerated my motivation for djing, starting to actually bring that deeper meaning that i lost and have been trying to regain
ESMdjm600
u know actually, i dont even think im pissing on tiesto or pvd, i mean how can u not respect anyone who worked, and then achieved, theres really nothing wrong with that... i have to apoligize for thinking so fragmented, i honestly think all the drugs over the years has caused me not to be able to think in one complete thought

We've all heard of the likes of Tiesto, pvd, paul oakenfold, carl cox...
my question is what makes the ppl like them so much???

id say the vibe

i honestly havent had the chance to dig up much on cox but i do know hes rather known... that being said, does he produce? and if so wut r some good tunes.. if not..:tongue2

as for tiesto and pvd... id say its about the vibe given off...listen to a mix by either of them and youll prolly notice the way it makes you feel...

the first time i watched the ibizas children video i cried when it went from tiesto to pvd...airwave and circa are brilliant tracks but what really sent me off was the reaction of the crowd in both

for me its track selection and the mix... firstof, they get your attention, and they keep it... you know when you like a cd cus you play it and even if theres other stuff going on around you, youre still in tune to the music, if its a mediocre cd you probably play it for a few specific tracks then change it cus it loses your interest

ppl like them cus they can listen to most all of their cds the all the way thru without skipping tracks... when you listen to an entire cd and you love it you're bound to go out and get another one

the first time i heard a tiesto mix i was into it the entire way thru, The quest -C sharp really stood out to me and really peaked my interest in tiesto cus a good majority of his tracks really touched me and made me want to find more and it goes on and on....
