A few Cubase questions

After only using cubase for sequencing, im still a total n00b at it for using it for production.
Anyway id really just like to get some basics out of the way, dont worry i have read the help but it doesnt explain well enough.
1. When i load up a VST got it all working and ive entered some into the paino role, say its the bass or something. How the hell do i add effects to it? like fade in, Delay and stuff.
Thats all i can think of at the moment! lol.
Also is there any webpages that would get the basics down, im to used to using FL and its just to in complicated to learn from nothing.
Also offtopic but anyone know a decent VST that could make strumming guitar. Slayer is total , other than using it for some totally distorted rock based song.

u open the mixer using F3, each VST MIDI track gets there own audio track in the mixer, in those tracks is it u add VST Effects etc. to them...

open a mixer, and then open the channel of your selected vst instrument. there you can put insert channels in the signal chain, eq it or add sends.
