Sweeps

Hey,

I'm about to finish my newest track and I would love to add some FX in it. Sweeps seem to be indispensable nowadays so I searched the i-net for some free samples. However, I can't find them and haven't got the knowledge to make them myself. Is there anyone who can help me out with this?

Thanks!

Get some white noise, filter it low, and then open the filter rapidly. Add FX...

You can also make a "hit," (like a cymbal crash or something) put in a lot of reverb, render it, and then reverse that sample. It's not a sweep as much as a sonic build, but that works too...

I'm quite new to this stuff... could you explain what white noise is? :D *embarrased*

hmm thanks, are there some samples of this white noise available... I'm stil newbish in some techniques so I would be eager to learn all this..

On that link that he just posted, you can d/l that mp3 sample of the white noise. I think in cool edit pro 2, (havent used it in forever) theres a noise generator that you can select white noise and then save it however you want.

hehe I have no idea where to start... Is there any forum link which can show me how to make a nice sweep? :P Or otherwise a very short explanation if possible.. It's the very last thing I wanna do before upload the track. Thanks!!

What you need to do is make some whitenoise(easily done in reason/FL/Cubase etc) then automate a bandpass filter to sweep through it.
Rob
okay, for those of you too lazy, here's some whitenoise I just made in CEP2. WHITENOISE

You can now import that into a sampler, and loop it. After that, put a bandpass filter on it and automate some sweeps.

thanks! I'm now using it with the NN-19 device and got some nice effects on it with for example phaser etc.

If any of you got tips for me I'm looking forward to hear them!

Erty
Well the subtractor has a noise generator so you can use that one instead of a sampled one.
