My review: The exact as Jenna's but a couple of deviations:
1. I MET A PORN STAR AT ULTRA!!!! HEHEHHEHEEH :D:D:D:D::D Actually, Mike and Jenna met her too...pretty friendly porn star, i must say.
2. I lost my cell phone...WHEN I WAS SOBER! :whip:
3. I lost my voice a few times
As for the women...thye are hotter, no doubt..but ing snobbish. I have decided to make a career change. I am going to be a plastic surgeon and move to Miami. Damn, I would be a billionaire. Fake everywhere.
But i will surely head back next year, and as Jenna mentioned, will do things a bit different.
Oh yeah..did I mention, the trip was made a hundred times better by going to Miami with Mike & Jenna. Could not have worked out better. Stellar couple! |

LMAO @ yankeebaby. Yeah we had a great time. Too bad we didn't get to meet. There was so many people. Hopefully next time.
Fuad you are now officially our travelling buddy. Next stop Dubai ;) We just have to rest more than an hour before we come back home. That plane ride was horrible, especially for Mike.
Wasn't it funny too how we were talking about how you would be lost without a cell phone the day before you lost it. :p |
Dubai it is!!!!! :D
Yea man....it was that diner food the night before our flight! Plus no sleep!
That was the wieredt thing how we were talking about not having a cell phone...oh well..everything is back up and running! |

Well this was my 5th year going & prob the best to date.....
Mon -
Great time chilling at the hotel's poolside bar - but damn those blue long island iced teas! The Phuture party was suppposed to be at Nocturnal but was moved to Space. Nice sized crowd overall but it was lost in the vastness that is Space. Good to see Ron there - it was my only TA spotting for the entire week! Desyn Masiello was on with some great tracks and then was Tiefschwarz who lost a lot of the crowd. The side room had Mazi and he was good. Then Luke Fair was on in the main room and he had the faithful shaking their asses!
Tues -
Started things off with the Groovanauts.com party at the Fairwinds and saw a bit of the 112 Crew and Steve Gerrard. Then over to the Toronto based TOgether party and that was the place to be. Sandy Rivera did ~2hrs of incredibly good Boa mega tunes that had everyone dancing. And can I say.... it was a drunk fest? Due to some technical problems Brad Copeland's & Sean Miller's sets were moved back - Brad eventually dropped 2 tracks and then Sean closed the evening off with 1/2 hr's worth of house goodness. Went to Spin for the Resident Advisor party and walked in to a rock concert (complete with head banging up front + centre) that was Infusion. I just love these guys enthusiam - they supposedly started at 11pm and finished at 1:30 - that means they did a 2 1/2 hr live PA!! Incredible stuff, they had the crowd singing along and I yelled myself hoarse and danced my feet off. Then Hernan Cattaneo took over and I was glued to the dancefloor til the end. Deep growly tribally funky shake yer ass music! Ended off the night on the beach watching the sunrise.
Wed -
At this point I started falling victim to the dreaded Conference Cold and opted on sleeping in and then chilling poolside. Went down to La Galleria and caught a bit of an impressive local minimal tech duo called System Clique. Then my friend Domingo Castillo was on for a short but sweet hour's worth of house. Over to Rumi for the Balance 007 cd launch - walked in to see Luke on the decks and the place was filling up nicely. Then James Holden took over and the place to be was down on the dancefloor! Partied for an hour and headed over to the Marlin for the Hallucination party. Holy crowded! Heard a bit of Three and then it was Zabiela time... who turned an already sweaty box into an inferno. Left for the hotel with a much needed stop at the drugstore for echinacea and vit C.
Thurs -
Sullivan Room/Basic NYC party at Teasers was a chilled venue and I caught some of Alex Pearce and Brian Owen. And wow, did this place have insanely strong mojitos! Then off to the Wave hotel for the Lost in Miami gig where I spent a good 1-2 hrs listening to Jonathan Ojeda. Made my way down to Nikki beach and danced to a very short set from Kaskade. After a much needed dinner I promptly made my way over to BED for the Danny Howells GU 27 release party. Much to my surprise (and joy!) there was a general lineup and the hostess assured me that I would get in (12th in line at this point). Once inside I was up on the landing to the side of the booth - so much cooler than down on the floor. As for this what can I say?? It was THE party of the conference for me. Danny started off tribally and growly and then moved off into every direction he could think of - sunshiney house, funky electro, acid trippy-ness, techy goodness. From 3am onwards I found myself dancing with Demi on the most vip bed of them all - front + centre of the booth! Got a copy of the GU27 cd and also met Pako + Frederik - such nice guys.
Fri -
Checked out the Balance Records pool party at the Marlin - nice tunes but they were just getting started and only a handful of people were there. So over to the Chesterfield for Sookie Sookie and saw a bit of Jay Tripwire. Strolled down to Nikki beach but opted to not join the 300+ lineup. Was in need of a nap so back to the hotel for that and some alcohol refuelling. Headed to State for Porterhouse and found Sydney Blu was the hostess for the night! The place was packed - by this point in the week a lot of people were eager to take advantage of a free event. Eli Wilkie was rocking the main room proper and whoever was in the back room - Groovefire (I think?) had the crowd jumping. Then to the Bedrock OS party - this was one of my favourite parties ever. The amazing tracks, comfortably crowded space, friendly people, great view overlooking trendy Lincoln Road.... all made for good times. Had fun dancing it up while Luke and Desyn tag teamed the night away.
Sat -
Chilled the afternoon at the hotel's pool and then off to the Eden Roc for the Remix events. Caught a bit of Platonic and DJ Reset while sitting on the beachside patio. Was tempted to stay for the rest of the night's guests (Matthew Dear and Esthero) but decided to hook up with friends at their sweet condo. Packed and got ready for the next morning's flight out and then headed to BED for Lee Burridge. At this point everyone was hurting and we decided that we didn't have to stay for the whole thing. Yeah right! Walked in to see Lee grinning his head off and dropping his techy funky goodness that had the entire room going off. Ended up splitting my time between the Proton Radio crew's bed and being front + centre dancing up a storm. Around 4:15 he dropped this awesome track (id anyone??) with a guy saying "I hear voices coming from my radio" that literally had the entire room jumping up + down. Big smiles all around at 5am when the lights came on, I said goodbye for a another year to some friendly faces and started the return journey home. |
